Audio and Video on a
Single Card
AV Master digitizes both audio and video.
Combining stereo, CD quality audio and video on a single card
guarantees perfect lip sync. AV Master creates industry standard
WAVE files. You won't need an additional sound card for
audio/video mixing and editing anymore.
PCI Bus Mastering
AV Master is one of the first video cards to use
the next generation of PCI chips for bus mastering. With a
maximum data transfer rate of 130 MB/s (burst mode) and
compression rates up to 4:1, the technology makes the most of the
PCI bus. Until recently, PCI-based multimedia and video cards
were designed as "slaves." They access the main
processor (CPU) for all operations, and occupy it with
unnecessary tasks. Because the CPU becomes a bottleneck, this
does not efficiently use the PCI bus bandwidth. A PCI slave has
to wait until the CPU releases or frees the bus; only then can
data pass once again through the bus.
As a bus master card, AV Master prepares the data on its own and
instructs a slave (such as a hard disk controller) to retrieve
it. AV Master controls the copy process and can write directly
into main memory (RAM) or read from it (DMA). This frees the CPU
for many other important tasks. In short, only master cards make
full use of the PCI's potential and high data transfer rates. AV
Master creates an extremely efficient environment on your PC for
capturing and processing audio and video.
Professional Quality
With audio locked to video and PCI Bus Mastering,
AV Master is a truly professional product. Active filtering and
noise suppression mean sharp, clean images. The result is
high-quality, full resolution digital video. 32-bit capturing for
recording and accelerated video effects mean better productivity.
An included bonus is the special FAST MediaCache software. Only
MediaCache offers a data buffer to guarantee a constant video
stream that minimizes dropped frames during playback. AV Master
is completely VFW (Video for Windows) compatible. All VFW video
is buffered on the memory while capturing. However, VFW does not
buffer video during playback, which is the main cause of dropped
frames. FAST MediaCache was designed to optimize VFW playback
performance.
