The American League named George
Sisler as the Batter of the Month for
the Month of July. Sisler scorched
all pitchers who dared to pitch to
him. Although he did get 10 walked
for the month (to go with 11 Ks). He
did connect 50 times out of 117 ABs.
That calculates out to a .427 average.
He also left the yard 13 times and
drove in 27 Runners. Sisler is
Springfield's first representative in
the Batter of the month Category.
Congrats to George as he has had
an AWESOME month. He edged out Vic
Wertz of Helena for the award. Wertz
hit .466 on the month... Better luck
next month Vic.

On the pitching front, it was
Michigan's Dazzy Vance who took the
award by the smallest of margins. He
edged out Eddie Rommel and Eddie
Kinder. Each received 7 1st place
votes, but Vance got a 4th place vote
to go with it. Rommel had a 5th
Place vote to go with his 7 1st place
votes and Rommel only received the
7 first place votes.
The voting was close, but the
numbers weren't as close. Vance had
a month that others can only dream of.
He allowed only 2 Earned Runs the
entire month. His ERA was 0.52 and
Opponents hit only .117 against him.
He was 4-0 and struckout 45, while
walking only 6. It's no wonder that
Michigan is atop the AL East.

![]() Hack Wilson |
The National League named Hack
Wilson as the Batter of the Month for
the Month of July. Wilson has the
protection of team Babe Ruth batting
near him in the lineup. It's becoming
obvious that this is getting Wilson
some good pitches to hit. And hitting
them is just what he's done.
Wilson was 37 for 99. That works
out to a .374 average for the month,
but it doesn't stop there as he left
the yard 11 times of his own. He drove
in 29 times. Wilson, not known for his
patience at the plate, struck out 10
times while walking 5 times. That's
definitely what you need in your
lineup to protect what could be this
season's MVP winner in Ruth. Ruth has
a good chance to win the triple crown
in the NL and greatly appreciated his
teammates contributions.

Now on to the last award of
the month. The National League's
Pitcher of the Month. This month
it goes to Phillies pitcher Stan
Coveleski. The Phillies may be
struggling, but Stan sure isn't.
This wasn't even a battle as
Coveleski posted incredible
numbers.
Stan had and ERA of only a
measily 0.26. Yes folks, that's
no typographical error. He only
allowed 1 Earned Run the entire
month, and he spanned it across
35 innings of work. Opponents
hit only .094 for the month. 11
hits over 35 IP. An average of
just over 3 hits per game. Any
team that couldn't use a pitcher
like that is lying !!
4-0 with 39 Ks and only 3
walks. Imagine only giving up 14
baserunners in a month !! All
our hats are tipped to Stan on
what could be a historical month
of pitching !!
