Yikes Rangers Pre-Season Report(OFFENSE)

Another new season is on the way, and Yikes Rangers are ready to do battle once again. The off-season saw 9 Ranger players retire, most in the league. Yikes traded its college picks for depth at CB and S and aquired Rick Mirer. Lead by an offense with vetarn Quarerback, Rodney Peete, who had an off-season full of conditioning, is ready to start his 11th.season.

"He may be one of the leagues older quarterbacks, but he has looked amazing in camp this pre-season." Coaches also stated, "Since Rick Mirer came in to camp, Qb's on the team have all stepped it up,making the back-up a nice position to be in."Len Vanhorse will push Mirer at #2 with Jeff Lewis also in the mix.

The running game will be solid again this season lead by starters HB Terrell Davis and FB Raymont Harris. This is another deep strength of the Rangers with much troubled but talented Lawrence Phillips and Tim Tindale waiting in the wings. The team also have Byron Hanspard & George Jones in camp.

Wide Receiver will still look for someone to step it up behind Michael Jacson. Eddie Kennison will be the 2nd starter, but he needs more polishing. Jermaine Ross will push for playing time at WR3, replacing retired Jeff Grahm. Tight End will see OJ Santiago starting again this season.

The Offensive line was a dissapointment last season, though they came together at seasons end. This is a young group, with vets in it also. Center is the youngest on the O-line, with Odie Plummer starting and rookie Nick Kennard the Back-up.Gaurd will see young Chris Naole at G1 and vet Keith Sims at G2. Tackle is the same as gaurd, being one is young, Tarrick Glenn, the other a vet, Lincoln Kennedy.

The offense of the Rangers should be one of the leagues best this season if the offensive line can protect Peete better this season and open some gaps for Davis. The receiving corp employed by the Rangers, is a weak group but hopefully will play with more steadiness.

Is this Peete's 11th Seaons his Last ??

DEFENSE

Yikes Defensive Leader

John Mobley

Yikes Rangers lost many key starters on the Defensive side of the ball. Gone are the likes of Tony Bennett, Tony Siragusa, Gary Plummer, Aneas Williams and Henry Jones. Just before the college draft, the Rangers swung a deal and aquired a CB and a Safety.

The Defensive line is not yet set on its starters, but Roy Barker will be looked to be the leader of the bunch. Linebackers will have to compensate for the weak D-line, but there is a solid group of them. John Mobley was one of the leagues best and he is looking for anothe big year. Quentinn Coryatt and Marvin Jones will fill LB out, with Marvcus Patton and younsters Alanen Kramer and James Bates in the wings.

Defensive back loss two key players to retirement, making a trade to cover became necessary. The Rangers aquired a Safety(Neamiah Edmonton) and a CB(Leonard Fultz)to help out. Carnell Lake and Mike Bigalow will start at safety while Carlton Gray and Jeff Burriss get the nod at CB.

The Rangers defense will be a hard group to figure out. Retirement took many key players away from the team, plus some of the current players are getting the years under them. If the starters stay healthy, this could be a fair group of players. The biggest concern is the defensive line. John Mobley should be the leader on the defensive side of the ball.
