Maulers Struggle but Win !!

The Maulers opens the season versus Division rival Friendswood Mustangs. Either they totally underestimated them OR they just didn't prepare well for the game. This was expected to be a blowout, but instead the Mustang fans were thrilled to find their team in the game from start to finish. Maulers fans were not nearly as impressed.

After the game, Maulers manager Chas Wilkins IV had the following comments about the game - "No excuses -- WE STUNK !! Not to downplay the great play of the Mustangs, but if we expect to get rings are our fingers we better start playing better ball than this - I was apauled by our play. We can't continue to succeed if our running game doesn't pick up. Any time your QB leads the team in rushing you're in trouble. We all owe a great tribute to our QB Gus Frerotte -- if it weren't for him we'd have lost the game for sure. Andre Hastings had a good game too."

"Don't get me wrong. There were some good preformances on the team, but as a whole we need to improve. It's one of the few games I can remember where we won the time of possession. Hopefully there are only better games to be played "

Frerotte shouldn't be competing to keep his job if he puts up a few more appearances like this !!
