FBPRO names Players of the Week for Week #1!!

Garrett & Farmer take the honors

The opener was as exciting as predicted. Many managers showed at the sim, as a record 10 managers attended. And many weren't disappointed as most of the games were close. To add to the enjoyment we have some GREAT ACTIVE new managers that were added in the offseason. Hopefully they enjoy the league and build up some champions too.

A couple of the Big games this week were Dallas vs KC (defending Web Bowl Champion) and this was a battle resulting in the Champs winning -- but only 10-9. There were also some division rivalry of interest as PU and Buffalo battle to a 12-7 PU win, Maine snuck by Friendswood (10-7), and UNC took charge over Oakland 13-3. The big shocker here is these games were figures to be easy wins by the winners and they barely pulled it out. Is the league closening in talent level again ??

The one matchup I was watching was last year's last undefeated team, Chelsea, versus another very capable team in Rhino -- Guess Chelsea won't be the last undefeated team this year as Rhino pulled it off late !! It doesn't get any easier for Rhino this week as they have another feature matchup against Kansas City.

Offense Galore !!

Jason Garrett

On to the awards, Jason Garrett won the Offensive Player of the week with his performance for Meadville. Meadville basically did what they wanted against an unprepared Arizona team. Garrett was 20 of 28 for 278 yards. He threw for 3 Touchdowns and most importantly no interceptions. He used only 4 receivers with Scott being his main target. The rushing of the Bulldogs didn't hurt his ability to throw either. His offensive line protected him well as the Raiders only got to him 1 time. Meadville moves on this week to face the struggling Compton Onterage.

On the other side of the ball, Ray Farmer got the week 1 honors of being the defensive player of the week for Hoyas. This was a quick one as the Hoyas played the first game of the week and Farmer set a high standard for the rest of the defensive players.

Farmer had an interception and returned it for 7 yards, but that isn't all that earned him the honor. Farmer led the team in tackles with 11 and accounted for 1 of only 2 sacks by the Hoyas. Farmer also recovered a fumble by FB Marc Logan as the Wolfpack was threatening late in the 2nd quarter. This definitely helped to keep the Wolfpack within the Hoyas reach !! His interception happened about 3 minutes after the fumble recovery as once again Montreal was moving the ball in Hoyas territory when Farmer stopped them dead. That's twice in 3 and a half minutes that Farmer preserved the Hoyas 3 point lead. Unfortunately, it was all to no avail as the Hoyas would later lose by 3 points. But hats off to Farmer for his GREAT performance. Isn't that the defensive hat trick (sack, fumble recovery & Interception) ??
