DEFENSE GETS ATTENDED TO
The Denver Crusaders checked the stats and discovered nothing different. They were last in the league in intereptions with zero, and only had 5 sacks, which is also last in the league. The Crusaders are hoping to change that as they traded second string Tight End Ricky Dudley and a good Guard in Rodger Edwards to the Buffalo Wings in exchange for Safety Tito Wooten, and Defensive Tackle Darryl Gardener. Darryl Gardener has 6 sacks on the year so far, and Tito contributes with his 9 tackles.
OFFENSE PROVES BRUTAL
Results prove successful! Last week, the Denver Crusaders faced off versus the Clayton Blizzard. Noah Hoard took the helm in his second start of the season after Scott Erickson was benched becasue he lost to Yikes Rangers. But he wasn't the highlight of the show. Seeing he needs to develop his arm more, the Crusaders management decided to go with the run game, which proved to be the key. Eddie George was the highlight of the show in Denver. He ran for 208 Yards and scored one time. Even better was Edgar Bennett who ran for a career high in one game, 115 yards and two scores on only 10 carries, averaging 11.5 yards a carry. On the receiving end it was once again Eddie George who stole the show with 5 receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown. So if you are scoring at home that equals 251 yards and 3 touchdowns on the day for Eddie George.
"You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him!" said GM Erik Elden after the game.
Perhaps someone who is being overlooked is Eugene Robinson on the defensive side of the ball. In the last two weeks Eugene has taken the lead in tackles on the team with 61 and upped the sack count to 3. New-comer Darryl Gardener got 2 sacks to up his count to 10 and leads the team.
Denver Crusaders shirts are selling like crazy now in Denver. "Its a miracle! We are finally making money again! I hope these 60 points games come more often!" said store manager Michael Ng. When asked who the top selling Jersey was, Michael Ng said, "It would have to be Eddie George because he's been a fan favorite for a while now. Then Eugene Robinson who is coming on strong. Suprisingly people are trying to return their Scott Erickson jersey's to get Noah Hoard jersey's which aren't even available yet!"
