Boston Red Sox
Boston Red Sox announced today the release of their new website. This
is actually a part of the new Chas' Fantasy Baseball Teams site. It
will include some (eventually ALL) of my fantasy league team pages.
The Chas' FPS Red Sox portion of the page is complete. It includes all
stats through the end of last season. There is ALL kinds of data about
the club there including individual team pages for ALL the current
players (including a picture of each player). It has taken some time to
create, so hopefully you'll visit it...

 The site Address is :
            www.fortunecity.com/olympia/senna/364/

It'll get updated with any and all changes to my team. I intend to add
to it as time goes along including Trades, how players were acquired and
hopefully a page that shows the current stats for the playing season too
:-)

All team reports for the Red Sox will be linked to there and there will
also soon be a Trade Block page posted there of who is & isn't
available.

On Other Notes :

The Red Sox have made a lot of trades lately to try to firm up the 3B
position. It has been done. That should sure us up for the End of Year
departure of 3B Dave Magadan to Free Agency. I May also try to make a
move or two to get another quality Catcher, as Mike Stanley will also be
lost to Free Agency this season, but I do have Tyler Houston almost
ready to step in and a couple others in AAA.

The Red Sox did acquire 2 GREAT prospects in the Amateur draft though.
In the 1st round the Red Sox secured the SS position for quite some time
to come as they got SS Deivi Cruz. This allowed for the post-draft trade
of SS Chris Snopek to replace some of the pitching lost in the deals to
acquire the 3Bs. Red Sox also drafted one of the top relief pitchers in
the draft late in the 2nd Round. He could turn out to be a real steal
for that point in the draft. Both Amateurs have been optioned to AAA
Pawtucket to get some needed work, but they should eventually get there
shot in Fenway !!

On the trade front:

We traded SS Chris Snopek, AAA P Tim Gordon,AAA P Graeme Lloyd, AAA
Pitcher Chuck Ricci, LOW P Elmer Dessens, LOW LF Bill Schwartz & LOW CF
Marvin Benard.

In return for those (in 3 different deals) we added :

3B Jeff Waters - Jeff is only 22. He has great contact & Speed. He
will be left in AAA Pawtucket to gain more experience and work on
his hitting. He is expected to fill the void by Magadan come next
season.

3B Kelly Aguilera - Kelly is 27. He is not of the same quality as
Waters, but will help to fill the need at 3B. Aguilera will compete with
Gerald Johnson & Jeff Manto for the backup spot next season. Spring
training will be vital to see who will get that roster spot. The EOY FA
draft could also be important to filling this position.

RF Vladimir Guerrero - a rabbit at 19. He was acquired in a trade to
cut salary, but we acquired him with all intentions of using him
in a few more seasons. Once he works on his contact at AAA Pawtucket, he
could become a vital part of the Red Sox outfield.

P Wayne Hamilton - Another young'en . AS you quickly realize all the
trades were for young players. Wayne come in as a middle to Long
reliever. He was optioned back to Pawtucket for further evaluation. He
comes with a great changeup and a pretty good curveball, although
control is his biggest problem. He has plenty of time to develop
though. He would have gone to the LOW minors, but was prematurely
promoted & and has a clause in his contract prohibiting it.

So with these 6 new young players the Red Sox are still a team on the =
move !!!
