Bryant Westbrook and the D Comes Up Big![]() Bryant Westbrook had a team leading 7 tackles and Pittsburgh's 1 INT of the game. |
The Pittsburgh Predators improved to 2-3 in Week 5 with a 23-7 win over Newfoundland. The defense was the one that really dominated, but the offense was respectable enough to win. The Predators' D dominated Newfoundland, allowing just 7 points. Bryant Westbrook led the team with 7 tackles and got their 1 INT for the game. The team had 5 sacks from 5 different players, showing that the whole defense was at the top of their game Sunday night. Greg Biekert recovered a fumble and ran it into the endzone for the first defensive TD for this team this season. The team recovered 2 fumbles on defense. The defense came up really big and played some of its best football of the year. The offense played pretty good also. Elvis Grbac was dominate through the air, completing 17 out of 22 passes for 183 yards and 1 TD. His 77% completion percentage was his highest of the year, maybe of his career. Reggie Brooke ran 21 times for 64 yards and caught 5 passes out of the backfield. Amani Toomer caught an 8 yard touchdown pass as this unit's lone TD, but that is all they needed. At 2-3, Pittsburgh is only 1 game out of first place in the AFC Central. Week 6 brings this team its toughest opponent of the season so far for them, Kyle at 5-0. It would be big if Pittsburgh can win this game. If the defense can dominate like it did in Week 5, and the offense play respectable also, then the Predators have a good shot at a major upset in Week 6. "Nothing is impossible.", Predators Head Coach John Wertz said early Monday afternoon in an interview. "I have confidence we can win this game in Week 6, and I know the players think we can pull this upset off as well." GO PREDATORS!!!!!!!! |
