Less than 24 hours after the White Sox released an article talking about all their off season aquisitions, they have reason to write a whole new article. This evening, the White Sox made their biggest deal since the Greg Maddux incident 2 years ago. They sent great prospect Shawn Green and one of their valuable lottery picks to the Colorado Rockies for star CF Jim Edmonds. Edmonds is only 26, but he is already a star in fps. With ratings of 82 CH 88 PH 57 SP and 99 FA Edmonds will be the best player on the White Sox by far. Last year he slugged 36 homers with 94 RBI's while batting a great .315. For those interested he also stole 6 bases!!!!!!! The White Sox will be looking for a 35+, 100+ RBI season out of Jim. He should get plenty of RBI oppertunities with top leadoff man Ray Durham and also Roger Cedeno batting in front of him. On ESPN's "Baseball Tonight," analyst Peter Gammons said about the deal, "Edmonds will bring fans into Comisky Park. The White Sox will need these fans after averaging just 10,531 fans per game last year. I think with all these young players improving as they are, this could be a team to watch over the next couple of years." When asked about the deal, White Sox GM Jeremy Tietjens said with a smile, "Woo Hoo!!" |
