Brian Anderson Shines Against Former Team

Chicago- Recently aquired LHP Brian Anderson knew about a week in advance that he would be facing his former club, the Cleaveland Indians. What Anderson AND the White Sox management weren't sure of was how he would perform aginst his former teammates. The main reason for the concern was the 21 year-old Anderson's lack of expirience. It certainly would be tough for a young pitcher to face his former team and still keep his composure. Anderson was up to the task, though, tossing 8 great innings of shut-out ball and only allowing 4 hits. He also recorded 10 strikeouts. After a 2nd inning RBI by Todd Hollandsworth, it was all Anderson. Terry Adams put the exclimation point on the exciting game in the 9th with his 6th save of the season. After the game, Anderson commented on his superlative performance. "I was pretty nervous before the game, but after the first inning, the cheering crowd really got my confidence up and I forgot that I was even nervous to begin with." Anderson's next start will probably be on Tuesday, September 14 against Billy Wagner and the Minnesota Twins.
