It was a bright sunny day in Cleveland.
The Cleveland Indians have just dealt away
CF Kenny Lofton, RF Tony Gwynn, 3B Wade
Boggs, 2B Ricky Guiterrez and closer Eric
Plunk to the Chicago Cubs for 3B Vinny
Castilla, RF David Justice and 2B Jason
McDonald.
"We felt we needed more power," said GM
John Schultz. Justice and Castilla will
help Belle fill the power void from last
year.
The trade also made room for the Indian's
top prospect Frank Masterson who will
replace Kenny Lofton. "It is great to know
that you will be playing full time for a
championship club. It is something you
dream of when you are a kid."
Some other replacements are : Castilla
replacing Boggs, Justice replacing Gwynn
and McDonald replacing Guiterrez. Schultz
said, "We just need a good SS and a little
more relief pitching and this club will
surely make the playoffs or probobly even
win the World Series."
