Houston Astros Team Report

Fan count in Houston at its Lowest

HOUSTON - As we all know, Houston has never been the biggest sports town.
Granted a few Houston Oilers good seasons in football, Nolan Ryan as probably
the biggest star that ever passed through there in baseball, and the Rockets
have had their share of fun. Besides that, the town of Houston was never
a big sports town. Fans don't care much about whats going on, and when
Sports comes on in the News, Houston civilians change the station in boredom.
This year the Houston Astros are trying to bring them back. Starting
off the year with Randy Johnson and Jeff Bagwell, fans were quite interested.
Later, after Shane Reynolds returned, fans packed into the Astrodome
to see the contending Astros compete. Then, tragedy set in. After GM Erik
Elden decided to take a nice week and a half vacation, Astros fans feel
he abandoned the team. This led to a revolt.

Seeing on the news the recent Milwaukee troubles, sparks started to fly in Houston. Cars were overturned, fires set to everything, and crime went up 22%. During all this time the Houston Astros fell into last place in the NL Central division. None-the-less, the Astros are only a hoping 5 games out of first place. Once again, Houston is looking to shake things up a bit. The Houston Astros have reported pitcher Todd Stottlemyre is on the market to be traded. The veteran starting pitcher is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA. On his career, 14-20 with a 3.96 ERA, Stottlemyre is looking to be dealt cheap.

"Well, I know I wasn't performing very well in Montreal, so when I was traded over to Houston I had high hopes. I feel I did a better job here, but I know Houston is a competing team every year, since I wasn't doing well I knew I would get the hook, it was just a matter of when. I hope Houston will trade me to a good team, and maybe I can restart my career there."

What does Young Left handed prospect Tony Mounce of Montreal have to say?

"Well, I am honored to have been traded for Todd Stottlemyre. Now, I'm just trying to wait out my turn in Montreal, and hopefully someday get the call."
