Houston Astros Monthly

Last month everyone in the Houston, Texas area received a newsletter included with their newspaper entitled "Houston Astros Monthly". This newsletter was a big hit among the Houston fans so much that they have decided to publish another. This one is in honor of the Houston Astros Left Fielder Brooks Kieschnick.

Brooks Kieschnick is batting .303 this year in 89 games and 330 at bats. He got his 100th hit in the game versus 9-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on July 27, 1999. He's also fourth on the team in Homeruns with 11, but the three palyers over him, Jeff Bagwell, 21, Eric Anthony, 15, and Sean Berry, 13, have each played in 101 games to the 89 Kieschnick has played.

Brooks was voted onto the Generated All-Stars team, but did not participate in the real All-Star game due to the Dodgers bad taste in players. In the game he had one at-bat but went hitless.

Brooks Kieschnick was acquired from the Oakland A's in a 4 player deal including Kirk Dressendorfer in exchange for Jon Lieber and Richard Hidalgo. Battling out for the Left Fielder spot with Rookie of the Year last year George Jones, has so far won the position. Only time will tell if this young future star will become another SuperStar.
