Yankees Report

The week of June 8,1999 goes very good for the New
York Yankess with a 5-1 record. But don't give all
the credit to the Yankees because they faced 2/3 of
the pitchers on the Al League Leaders for Loses!
The leader of the group Ben Mcdonald of the Brewers
who the Yankees faced and gave him is league leading
12th lose. Also we gained some ground on the O's
and the Red Sox's which is all that really matters.

Brad Ausmus hit 4-4 on June 9,1999 versus the
Blue Jays. His 4 hits were 2 singles, a double, and
a home run. Ausmus faced Mike Maddux, Bohanon, and
Tim Crabtree.

Later in the week the Yankees got a 22-hit game!!
They played the struggling brewers and there
disapointed fans. Every player was quoted on the
team with one expression " WoW, wished we would play
like that all year round." GM Joe Torre said " We
played like we can play and should play every game!"

Reporters asked Pettitte what he thought of the
recent 5-1 week and Pettitte said" It's good, and if
our hitters contiune to hit like that everyone week,
we will have a better record. Also if David Cone
can return from his long injury we will do a lot
better, but injuries happen and this team needs to
deal with it."

This report would also like to note that the team
hit 10 or more hits in all of it's games and Pettitte
threw a shutout with some relief help.
