This year at the Ammy draft the A's aquired 2 people.
Both in the first round.  With the #3 overall pick the
A's took Tony Saunders.  Then in the 1st round also
with the #20 ovrall pick the A's took Kevin Young
(even though 27). In the Middle Of The draft, right
when our turn came up in the 2nd round, A's traded the
number #20 pick in the 2nd and 3rd round for Frank Maupin.

Ripken Finally Sits !!

This year for the first time in over 15 years,Cal Ripken will take a
seat. When questioned about it Ripken calmly replied "They are trying to
get some of the newly aquired and Younger people in so it is fine with
me."

The A's are now trying to aquire a new 2nd baseman after
trading Todd Walker.  Out of Todd Walker the A's got, Edgar
Renteria a 19 year old SS who will be good to replace Ripken
When Ripken gets too old, Richard Hidalgo another good LOW
minor (19 years old) and at this point what would be the #1
overall pick in the FA draft.

The A's are trying to completely rebuild the team.
The A's LOW minors could be very good players but
unfortunately the A's got themselves into a bind
by getting close to the cap.  IF the cap gets voted
against this year, the A's will be able to bring
up a bunch of players from the LOW minors that they
can't afford at the moment.

With the addition of Tony Saunders they now have
9 very good young pitchers in their LOW minors.
They also have a couple available that were already
up including 19 year old Chris Carpenter.

They now have Antonnio Alfonseca, Scott Baker, Will
Cunnane, Elmer Dessens, Stacy Hollins, Andy Larkin,
Tony Saunders, Mark Sievert, and Kennie Steenstra.
