The National League named Carlton
Fisk of the New York Mets as the Player
of the Month for the Month of July.
Fisk, although not on a potential
playoff team, has put up some great
numbers for the month of July. Fisk
went 31-103 for a .301 average for the
month. He hit 15 HRs and 37 RBIs for
the month. Think about that -- that
would work out to 90 HRs and 216 RBIs
for a season if anyone could keep a
pace like that.
Congrats to Carlton "Pudge" Fisk
on a great month... Fisk also walled 11
times and only struck out 6 times..
Enough to help any team.

So, on to the AL. In the American
League it was not quite as impressive,
but a great month anyway for American
League Player of the Month Barry Bonds.
Bonds went 38-110 for a nifty .345 Avg.
he hit 11 dingers and pushed in 33
runners. Bonds, like Fisk, also had
more walks then strikeouts by an 8 to 7
margin.
Still an impressive month none the
less. Bonds barely edged out teammate
Ken Griffey Jr. Bonds received 7 1st
Place votes and a 4th place vote, while
Griffey earned only the 7 1st Place votes.
Griffs numbers for the month were 40-106
for a .377 avg. He jacked 9 out while
driving in 28. He also walked 6 times and
struckout only 5. Is it any wonder why
Seattle is so dominant ?? (PS. Don't look
at 3rd cuz it was another Mariner too,
with only a .430 average for the month)
