For those of you not on this planet -
This is in dedication to Mark McGwire who
hit his 62nd HR of the season on Sept. 8,
1998. Congrats to Mark on this great
accomplishment. It couldn't have happened
to a nicer guy. Mark has handled the
situation perfectly and is one of the
Classiest ballplayers I've seen in a long
time. There aren't many ballplayers in
this time and age that would sign with a
team for less money because he loves the
fans in his homepark.
Mark hit his 62nd to Left Field. It
was a 341 ft. laser that just cleared the
fence. Mark being the hustler that he is
was just about at first base when it
cleared the fence. In his way was 1B
Coach Dave McKay, who with his hug, forced
McGwire to miss first base. McGwire then
did go back and touch first and the
celebration was on !!!!

Mark, of course, proceeded to get
handshakes and high five from all his
colleagues. This included every infielder
(and Catcher) waiting in the baseline for
McGwire to reach them. After finally
arriving at Home, he gestured to all the
fans and proceeded to go into the stands
and get hugs & kisses from the Maris
family. When coming back onto the field,
another Classy ball player was awaiting him
-- as Sammy Sosa (the man chasing him in the
home run race) had come in from CF to
congratulate Mark.
