ANDY COLE

DATE OF BIRTH: 15 October 1971

PLACE OF BIRTH: Nottingham

HEIGHT: 5'10"

WEIGHT: 11st2lb

Started his career at Highbury but after only one game played he was sold to Bristol City, here he scored 12 goals in 29 games. Then Kevin Keegan signed him for a club record of £1.75 million, everyone thought that the price was way too high but Andy soon proved his point, sending Newcastle to the Premiership and then scoring 40 goals in his first season in the Premiership.

He went through a bad patch in the 94/95 season, not scoring a goal in nine games. Alex Ferguson put another bid him (His third) and was told you can have him if we can have Kieth Gillespie. The deal went through in January 1995, seeing Andy Cole come to Old Trafford for £6 million and seeing the £1 million Northern Ireland winger. With 55 goals in 70 games United looked to have yet another star at Old Trafford.

He settled in quick at Old Trafford and that season, received a Premier league runners up medal, whilst scoring 12 goals in 18 games.....which is very good for a United player, and five of them goals came in United's 9-0 win over Ipswich at home.

His England Debut was when England drew 0-0 with Uruguay, and after coming on as substitute he hit the bar with a difficult header.

The following season he played very well but with a lower scoring record than the United fans expected the pressure was on Andy. But he had become a better overall player, being part of United's attacks and setting up a lot of goals.

This season he has played very well, alongside Teddy Sheringham and has scored over 20 goals as well as being part of much of the set play in and around the box.

The Old Trafford fans have to remember that Man Utd play as a team and Andy Cole is part of that, maybe he wont score 40+ goals each season but he will get at least 20, don't forget Man United have a squad full of players who can score 15 goals each every season, so the future does look very promising.

ANDY COLE

His confidence is one thing that lets him down and he is called for missing a lot of easy chances, he needs to keep his confidence high and the goals will come in the loads. Don't forget he scored 5 goals in one game against Ipswich a few years ago, that record still stands.

Glenn Hoddle give Andy Cole a proper chance!!! He deserves it!!!
