PAUL SCHOLES

DATE OF BIRTH: 16 November 1974

PLACE OF BIRTH: Salford

HEIGHT: 5'6"

WEIGHT: 10st8lb

Another home grown talent. He is a local lad and has been the longest serving member of the famous 92 youth side. He signed schoolboy forms in 1989, and then signed as a trainee in July 1991. He signed professional forms at the start of 1993 and started very well, playing numerous games in the reserve team.

His first team debut came in September 1994, when he scored twice in a 2-1 victory in a Coca-Cola cup game. During that same season he made six full appearances, and eleven as substitute, scoring five goals in the process.

Even being the longest serving youngster at Old Trafford, he was still behind the likes of Gary Neville, David Beckham, and Nicky Butt. His Break through came when Man Utd sold Paul Ince, Andrei Kanchelskis, and Mark Hughes, and with the suspension of Eric Cantona, Scholsey knew it was his chance to impress, and impress he did!.

His very good performances in the 97/98 season have kept united in the title running, and he seems to score that special goal when United need it most. Paul Scholes is an example of how good Manchester United's squad is when he got into the England team, when he wasn't even a first team player at Old Trafford.

He has craft, intelligence, vision and awareness....and most of all, he has the makings of a world class player, who doesn't even flinch in the big occasions.

He has just signed a new contract at Old Trafford and he's going to impress us for a lot more seasons. In France he was one of England's best players. He scored a magnificent goal against Tunisia (Below-celebrating) and was instrumental in the England midfield United and England will be looking forward to a promising future.
