West Virginia Climbing and Bouldering
West Virginia truly is a wild and wonderful place for climbing. With areas such as New River
Gorge, Coopers Rocks and Pioneer Rocks, this state excels for an easter climbing destination. West Virginia rock is generally gritstone. There are, however, lots of sandstone available at places such as the New. The under rated Cooper's Rocks offers a large variety of bouldering, trad climbing, and top ropes. The New is famous for its long bolted steep face climbs and its humbling trad routes. Pioneer Rocks is smaller than the two areas, however, this area offers a classic bouldering and top rope problems.
These three areas are only a taste of what Wv has to offer. Other ares such as Woodland Walls "Unfortunatly closed" and Summersville lake also offer quality rock climbs.
