Athletiki Enosis Konstantinopoulos were formed in 1924 by Greek refugees fleeing Constantinople. There emblem is a a Byzantine double headed eagle, which is also symbolic of the Orthadox Church. Their stadium is Nikos Goumas. They have yet to come away with much success in Europe, yet have qualified for the semi-finals for the UEFA Cup back in 1976/77, in which they were defeated by Juventus (I hate italian football). They have been league champs these years: 1939-40, 1963, 1968, 1971,1978-79,1989,1992-1994. They have been cup winners 1932, 1939, 1949-50, 1956, 1966, 1978, 1983, 1996-97. This year they were knocked out of UEFA Cup play by AS Monaco.
