During a formal training session:
Apprentice Instructors are referred to as "SI-HING" .
Accredited Instructors are referred to as "SI-FU".
The study of martial arts begins and ends with respect for life. Martial Artists bow to say "hello" or "goodbye", as a salute, or to say "thank you". Related to this general principle are four situations in which students must bow:
Class begins when everyone stands in a circle.
Sifu asks: "Why are we here?"
Students answer: "To study!"
Everyone places their right fist in the centre of their straightened left palm and bows together.
1. Correct uniform (black gi or black t-shirt & black shorts) is to be worn at all times. 2. Tuition Fees are to be paid in advance of training. 3. Students are not to cheer or barrack for other students/instructors during training drills; or to criticise other students. 4. If arriving late, students are to wait on the side and warm up, until Sifu gives permission to join the class. 5. Students must follow all instructions issued by a Si-Hing or Sifu, that are related to training or discipline. |
