September 1998

The best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be...
Bret "the Hitman" Hart is the best technical wrestler of all time, but since he has been a part of WCW he has taken a back seat to what should of been part of his spotlight. When "the Hitman" was in the WWF he had the spotlight for years. After all, he was the World Wrestling Federation Champion five times. Something that even Shawn Michaels or Stone Cold Steve Austin haven't done, and if they do it will be just to spite Bret because of what happen on November 9, 1997. Should I go into that for those of you who are new "Hitman" fans. Maybe a little.

Bret was working for the WWF since the 80's. He started out in tag team competition with Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart as the original Hart Foundation. After dominating the tag team scene, Bret became a singles competitor and won the hearts of fans all over the world, not mention a few titles here and there. "The Hitman" lived up to his saying," I  am the best there is...(you know the rest).

November 9, 1997 in Ottawa, Canada at the Survivor Series. This would be Bret's last match in the WWF because he signed that nice 7.5 million dollar contract with WCW. This was how it was suppose to go. Bret would beat Shawn Michaels, but the following night on RAW would give up the belt and leave as a champion, but Vince McMahon had other ideas and fixed the match with HBK winning. Of course "the Hitman" was upset, they just screwed him in front of millions.

Then he came to WCW with all the fan fair, but was he WCW? nWo? I'm not even sure if Bret knew what they were going to make him, but he soon became WCW, but the minute the he thought the fans weren't giving him much respect (or was it the suits of WCW who thought that?), he soon jumped ship and became nWo. Which I never understood because "the Hitman' has always hated Hogan for everything that he stood for. Talk about opposites attracting. Hart stands for tradition and honor, and Hogan doesn't know the meaning of that. Week after week I was waiting for Bret to turn on Hogan. It just didn't read right to me.

Finally "the Hitman" has come to the right frame of mind. He has denounced Hogan and the nWo and now wants to be given a second chance from the fans. Hey, I'm all for it. Whether you like Bret Hart or hate him, you have to admit you love to watch him and he gives you 100% every time he steps into that squared circle.

What will WCW do with "the Hitman"? Honestly, I'm not even sure they know yet. A Hogan/Hart match should be part of the near future, if they're smart. Team him up with Sting, they have same wrestling moves and styles??? Tag team champions they could be. Hart could go after Chris Jericho and the TV title, and when he wins they have to put him on TV in many matches. I don't know, but I think WCW needs to figure it out.

Until next month...
