Tides and Tide Prediction
TIDE PREDICTORS
Does the tide predictor adjust for daylight
savings time? If not, be sure to adjust accordingly. Daylight savings starts 1st
Sunday in April & ends last Sunday in October. These predictor links are
biased toward worldwide or very large area predictors or predictors that cover
California, the US, and the Pacific Basin.

TIDE OBSERVATIONS
- A tide prediction is NOT the same as the actual tide that occurred.
Predicted tidal heights are those expected under average weather conditions.
When weather conditions differ from what is considered average, corresponding
differences between predicted levels & those actually observed will be
noted. Generally, prolonged onshore winds or a low barometric pressure can
produce higher levels than predicted, while the opposite can result in lower
levels than predicted.

- PORTS provides
real-time data for tides, tidal currents, density, water temperature, wind,
air temperature & pressure for Chesapeake Bay, Houston/Galveston, New
York/New Jersey, San Francisco, & Tampa Bay [NOAA Field Operations Branch]

heights, & station datum [NOAA]
