WTA Tournament Commitments

The following listings indicate initial player commitments for upcoming WTA Tournaments. The commitment list for a given tournament usually becomes available 6-8 weeks prior to the start of the tournament.

The source of this information is the Corel WTA TOUR.

I will leave previous commitments due to the fact most players sign contracts before events for a number of years. So to play one year may indicate the same for the next.

  • Legend : injury = Player receives main draw entry through special injury ranking protection; exempt = Player receives main draw entry through special exemption. Exemptions are based on a measure of a player's past performance and/or marquee value.

Notes: Player seedings and tournament draws are determined during the week preceding a given tournament. Late entries by top players and late withdrawals due to injury/illness will cause changes to the final tournament roster.

As of 1998, three spots are reserved for wild card entries in the main draws of most tournaments - previously only two wild card spots were reserved. The third wild card spot will only be granted to an exempt player, which otherwise will go to the 1st main draw alternate.

Also as of 1998, there is no limit to the number of players with injury-protected rankings that may be granted entry into the main draw.
