A Day in the Life of a Giraffe - Part 4

Giraffes are very peaceful animals. They try to avoid trouble, but can defend themselves if necessary. Giraffes are fierce kickers. Giraffes have been known to kick the heads of lions off while trying to protect their young!!
Giraffes are often seen with tick birds on their necks. These birds eat ticks and other insects that may attach to the giraffe's skin. The giraffes are kept clean, while the birds get fed.
Giraffes are known as "walking lookout towers." Whenever a group of giraffes turns to stare in one direction, the other animals take notice. Predators may be on the way!
