Goodbye Oreo

This is Oreo's Urn, Hair Clipping and Paw Print, along with the Rainbow Bridge Poem

February 18, 1999

My precious Oreo was killed, February 17, 1999 at

approximately 2:30 PM by something I never imagined.

Her cat condo fell over , crushing her head. The sight

was horrible. My beautiful cat, flopping around the floor with

blood pouring out. My child screaming, me running

around grabbing a towel, grabbing my Oreo,

only to find a limp body in my arms. We rushed her to the vet's office,

only to receive the confirmation that she was already dead.

I lost something of more importance to me that my life itself.

One of my pets! I am so cautious with my animals, my cats

are NOT allowed outside for fear of something bad happening to them.

Oreo died because of something built for cats.

Mind you, we have had this cat condo for a couple of years.

Yes, it has tipped over before, but the cats always just jumped off.

I never EVER imagined that it would kill one of my cats. I beg you...........

If you have a cat condo - PLEASE SECURE IT.

Don't ever let my stupidity happen to you.

Don't let Oreo's death be for no reason. I promise you,

you don't want to see your cat covered in blood and have her

die in front of your eyes. I am so sorry Oreo that I didn't protect you better.

I am a strong believer that Oreo will return, I just don't know in what form she will

make her appearance. I am waiting for that wonderful day.

When I see her, I will know it's her. She was one of a kind.

We miss her so very much.

The night of her death was not only hard on the humans,

but the animals suffered as well. Ditto Kitty witnessed the terrible episode.

As we were running around the house with Oreo in my arms,

Ditto was hissing and spitting and screaming. I didn't have time to

deal with her too. When we returned from the Vets office, without Oreo,

Ditto was no better, actually she was worse. Every time my

daughter or myself would walk by her, she would hiss and growl.

So for those people who think animals do not know what's going on...

THINK AGAIN!

It took Ditto a couple of days to calm down. Every creature in the house was in

mourning. The dogs NEVER left the couch that night, A

sasha was cowering on the floor in the living room.

Other cats were chasing things that didn't exist.

(Or did they?) Was Oreo's spirit still running about the house?

I think so, actually, I know so.

Will Oreo come back? YES! When? I don't know, but I will be waiting for her.

With all my love, I will be waiting...

If you don't believe in the after-life or spirits,

maybe you should click here to read a chapter from "Talking to Heaven",

written by James Van Praagh. I highly recommend this book for

anyone who has lost a loved one, whether it is a pet or family

member. I promise, once you start reading this book, you won't

put it down until you are done! It was the best healing medicine for me with dealing with

Oreo's death.
