Sadie

Sadie was/is so special to me, she found me 2 weeks after my father shot himself, when I had a nervous breakdown. I wanted nothing to do with humans of any kind and I had stopped talking. I was in very very deep despair. My partner's daughter was living with us along with her 5 year old son. The daughter brought this 8 week old puppy home for her son and named her Sadie. Sadie didn't want anything to do with him or the rest of them, she wanted me. I however, did not want her. I was toast, inconsolable and unreachable by any human. Sadie used to wake me up from my nightmares of seeing my father killing himself over and over and she would lick my tears away. Eventually we became inseparable and she was then my dog. They were all very angry and wanted to take her to the pound where I came back to life and said, "Over my dead body!" I got out of there as soon as I was able to and took my girl with me, she has never left my side till yesterday. Sadie saved my life in many ways. Not only did she pull me through during my time of darkness, she also woke me up on 2 occasions during severe asthma attacks. If she had not been there I would've died while I slept. She knew I had some breathing troubles b/c she watched me many times on my breathing machine that is always kept beside my bed. Sadie always slept with me, sharing my pillow. I would wake up nose to nose with her each and every morning. Sometimes she would also be asleep but sometimes she was wide awake, just laying there watching me sleep, making sure I was OK.

You got to eat all of your favorite foods, McDonald's cheeseburgers, french fries, chicken McNuggets and chicken in any form, Arby's roast beef sammiches was one of your favorites also. I made sure you got everything you wanted and needed. You would lift her little head just high enough so I could hand feed you, then I starting lifting your head for her because it became too much for you to even do that.

My Golden Angel, you are gone now, pain free. I held you while you went to sleep and did not wake up. I kept telling you how much I love you and that it is OK for you to go, I will be OK. I held you while kissing your  precious face, I also told you to find and go with Rambo. I placed you in a large container on your big pillow bed with your favorite squeaky toy. I wrapped one of my shirts around you so you could feel my love. You also got your 2 rawhides with you that you were unable to finish. I removed your her collar, I will keep it with me always.

I buried you on Grandma's property down by the lake next to Rambo, your  buddy. You both really loved each other and loved to play together. You would get so excited when I would tell you we were going to Grandma's to see Rambo. You would bark at me and  you would get upset if I was not moving fast enough out the door. When we would turn on to my Grandma's property you would get so antsy and pace back and forth in my truck. When I let you out of the truck you would make a beeline to the front door where you would say hello to Grandma then immediately search for  Rambo. Rambo was never very far, he knew when you were coming over, and would be pace, making Grandma a nervous wreck till we got there. You and Rambo would run and run and run, chasing each other and rolling around in the grass together. You always wanted to bring your toy so you and Rambo could play with it together. Actually, so you could tease Rambo with it. Rambo was short so you would take full advantage of that. You would act like you were going to give him the toy while squeaking it at the same time to only take off running with it when he got too close. He would get so mad at you, he would chase you barking and barking at you. I could see you smiling and laughing, enjoying every minute of teasing him. Then you and he would take a break for some water and nap together in the warm sun where you laid right beside each other and always were touching somewhere. Rambo was put to sleep last year on New Year's Day, he had very bad arthritis so now you two are together, waiting for Grandma and I to join you both in heaven.

Many people have called crying, you were/are loved by so many people. Before you got sick you slept in the bed with me, sharing my pillow of course. I had 4 pillows but you always wanted the one where my head was at. So many times I would wake up nose to nose with you. Sometimes you would be awake, just sitting there watching me sleep. Sometimes you would be asleep and would open you eyes seconds after mine opened. Each night before we would fell asleep we would wrestle in the bed, you would get so  angry when I would throw the blanket over you because you wanted to get me but could not find your way out. You would snarl, grown, growl and bark trying to get to me. When you played, you played rough, that is when the pitbull side came out and the only time. I would pin you on your back and give you raspberries on her belly, that always infuriated you. You would try and get away and when you did, you would pounce on me and we would wrestle longer. Then we would stop eventually when you tuckered out then you would lay on your back with your head on my pillow waiting for your belly rub. You always got a long belly rub with lots of kisses every single night, till you fell asleep.

Now the bed is be empty without you, no more trying kick me off the bed because you wanted more then your share of it. Sometimes you would do it just to start a play session. Your hips were so very ticklish, you hated when I would tickle your hips! That was a sure bet to start a play session.

When we were up and you wanted my attention you would go get your big sammiche that squeaked, you would hold it at one end and swing your head back and forth so it would smack me over and over. That really hurt to, by the way.

You knew I was an asthmatic, on two occasions you woke me up during the night when I was having attacks. You watched me plenty of times in the past on my nebulizer I keep beside my bed. I woke up to you taking your nose and nudging my face, moving my head back and forth till I woke up  to take a treatment. You would lay there watching me do the treatments   not move. I could see in your eyes the worry. After you knew I was OK you would curl up beside me again with your head on my pillow. Come to think of it, you wanted to share my pillow to be close to me because you  always worried about my breathing. I just now realized that.

Thank you my Golden Angel, thank you for the 7 years and 4 months you gave me and Thank you God, for sending me my Golden Angel who saved my life in so many ways.

You are out of pain now, no longer suffering, because of that I am at peace.

I love and miss you my Golden Angel, I long for the moment we are together again.

Your loving companion and best friend.
