LUCY FUR was born at PEKEHAVEN on January 1, 1995
and sold at the age of eight weeks to a good friend who lives only
about four blocks away. She was a beautiful "blonde"! She joined
a household with a black Cocker Spaniel named Pepsi, a white
Bearded Collie mix named Misty and a rescue Pekingese named
Boots. Lucy loved her new home and was a constant companion to
Misty. When Mom's new boyfriend objected to dogs, first-mom and
first-dad (US) brought Lucy back, accompanied by her pal, Misty.
This was NOT subject to debate. We could not bring Pepsi..he had
been in the household many years and he went to live with a brother
of the lady. He would not have gotten along with our male Pekes.
Boots, being very old, stayed in a room asleep most of the time
and did not "get on nerves" of jerk boyfriend (pardon my sarcasm)!

My friend grieved for her dogs and came to visit them but as
long as HE was around, she did not even ask for them back.
Soon his true colors came through in his treatment of her and
she told him to stop coming around. Only after some time had
passed were LucyFur and Misty returned to her. They were
happy to be back with their "Mom"!

Went to the Rainbow Bridge on March 10, 1998

Pepsi was old and he was the dog the beastly man did not like.
That dislike was probably the main reason my friend finally saw
the light and threw the jerk out, added to his shabby treatment of
her personally. Pepsi had been her companion for many, many years.

Misty
MISTY is six years old and is a mix of Llasa
Apso, Beardie???. She has a wonderful "love-bug"
personality and wants to be a lap dog. She is
a happy, playful lady and tolerated all the
Pekingese wonderfully...a grimace occasionally
when they tried to take her food...but no bites!
THE BEARDED COLLIE
Having Misty come to live with us at Pekehaven
prompted "mom" to do a bit of research on the Bearded
Collie. They are not as well known as other Collies
and were almost extinct after World War II. Today,this
lovable dog is increasing and they are ideally suited
for family life, good with children and make a lively
playmate. They do require lots of exercise and daily
grooming.

The "Heap"
I just thought brushing a Pekingese was a chore...
tackling this big fur ball was an experience!! She
hates grooming about the face and was not too crazy
about the rest of the body...but she was not a biter
and always let me fancy her up..then she shook and
all the hair went right back like it was!
Beardies bear a striking resemblance to the Old English
Sheepdog, and is probably one of the oldest herding dogs
in Scotland. They come from purebred Polish Lowland
Sheepdogs. Two females and a male were exchanged for
a ram and a ewe on a trading voyage to Scotland in 1514.
Some say the Beardie has Hungarian blood.
