Christmas tree made with anthuriums at the hotel Paradis,
in Le Morne.
|
After a few visits to Mauritius, we thought it would be cool for our last stay in the island to have our own local Christmas tree, instead of the beautiful but too occidental styled ones that adorned the atrium and halls of the hotel. So we decided to go to Quatre Bornes the day after we arrived, to buy our filao (as the Christmas trees here are often made with filaos).

Here's the wall in Quatre Bornes where you can buy
your "Christmas tree".

The aligned filaos.
We had far too much to choose from! |

Once the "tree" has been chosen, we had
to ask for it to be cut because it was too tall for the hotel room.

Last thing: we needed a base... We bought a small
bucket and we went to the beach in order to fill it with sand and take
it back to the room (we had some surprised looks from other residents
of the hotel!).

And here is our Christmas tree, adorned (the sand
went back to its beach at the end of our stay).
Merry Christmas! |
