Geological studies are used as a window to the past and creationists use the fossil record for their interpretation of the origins of life. If evolution was a fact, the fossil record would contain unbroken patterns of change throughout the layers. Transitional fossils between the major phyla remain absent; there is no continuum between species. Organisms of the past are just as distinct from each other as they are today claims Scott Huse, a computer scientist and author of the book The Collapse of Evolution. According to creationists, missing links occur between nearly all different forms of life, including invertebrates and vertebrates, reptiles and birds, and between primates and other mammals. This claim is consistent with the creationist's view of life origins. Apparently, the fossils which are available point to evidence of a catastrophic flood as recorded in the Bible. Many animals have been found in mass graves and their distorted positions suggest violent and rapid burial. Observations such as these found in the fossil record allow for the acceptance of the biblical view of creation.
