Father's Day is just another one of those things that people make up to make others feel good about them and themselves. Father's Day, in my opinion, seems to be another one of those times that people celebrate but unfortunately there is no holiday to make it more of a celebration. This is more of a time for the children to make their father feel better about how much older they are getting. Father's Day really starts to affect the person when they have grandchildren celebrating the Father's Day with them. Unfortunately the businesses seem to try to make everyone think that the products that they are trying to sell for this celebration are usually the wrong present for a person's father.
Father's Day has grown to a day for a person's father to be celebrated by not doing any work for that day. For some fathers this will work, but for those who it doesn't the question comes up as what should those children do for the fathers that still want to work on Father's Day. The answer to that is different between each father. The best thing for a child to do is to try to get a gift that they know that his/her father will enjoy, and hope that is good enough. There is no real way to determine an answer for what to do on Father's Day with your father because some fathers just want to keep working, and the rest will take a rest for that day.
Every last business that has specials on holidays and special occasions such as Father's Day are usually just doing the special because of the day, not because it is something that they believe that someone actually wants as a gift. For example I just saw something about a "Big Beer Basket". It contains a can of non-alcoholic beer, bag of beer nuts, bag of Nacho chips, bottle of mild salsa, container of Nacho cheese dip, bag of pretzels, and other assorted candies & goodies. Something like this may be good for those fathers that you cannot think of anything else to get them or ever a last minute idea, however it is not something that should be given as a Father's Day gift. I can see it as a birthday gift, but not a Father's Day gift. Judging by this ad I would say that the businesses seem to be losing a bit of touch with what a real Father's Day gift is suppose to be like.
