Rumors are always around. Sometimes they can be helpful to the public, and the other times the rumors shouldn't have started in the first place. The rumors that are helpful are usually the ones that help people like the police solve a case because with all rumors there is always one piece of truth. Someone could have started the rumor, and a name changed, but the one piece of truth is still there.
The rumors that shouldn't have been started in the first place, are those that are slanderous against someone else. Such as a person could have a kid on the way, however to look like a good person they could start a rumor (that's not true) to say that someone else (that is doing better off than them) has at least 2 children on the way, from 2 different people. The rumor will grow from what this person started it off at, such as having added the phrase of "it was a one-night-stand" or "the person will not be doing child support", etc. This type of rumor is more like slander than anything else. This types of rumors can be acted upon by a court to have the damages of that rumor to be made up by money, the only thing is to catch the rumor when it is first talked about (or first said by the person).
I can honestly say that rumors that are slanderous by nature, I personally do not do because it is technically against the law to do such a thing. Plus rumors like this are not in my nature to do. I will hear the rumor, however, I am not the type that continues to spread them. I will tell people what I believe to be the truth, but I will not do rumors that will harm a person in the end, it isn't right.
A really good example of slanderous rumors is what I have heard about myself from where I come from. I have heard from multiple people that I am gay, and to prove that I am not I have 6 kids. Of those 6 kids, 3 have yet to be born and those in which are born I am not having anything to do with them. The 3 that are yet to be born, 1 is due at the end of February, 1 is due at the end of June, and the third is due in the middle of March. Now this rumor is strictly not true. The whole thing is false. This is a slanderous rumor, that if I had the proof to go after the person who created the rumor I would sue for slandering my reputation.
As I said previously about rumors, there is always one piece of truth to any of the rumors. In this example about the one about myself, the part that is true could be that the person that created the rumor may have a child on the way, but is unwilling to pay any child-support (because they aren't married). The truth piece could also be that someone is gay themselves. I personally cannot say which part of this rumor is true for the one that started it, but I can say that none of it is true that deals with me.
By the way if the person that started this nasty rumor (slanderous rumor) does read this at some point, be assured that I do know whom you are. I will have my reputation cleared of this once I can get actually proof, and not the hearsay that I currently have.
