The grass deadens the sound the animal makes when he runs. His eyes look around while his nose finds what he is looking for. The sun catches a glimpse of soft white fur and crystal blue eyes. The wolf runs on until he sees the three humans resting against a tree. He hides underneath a blackberry bush and keeps on an alert for any danger. So these are the two humans he has to protect. He yawns and shows his sharp white teeth.

He is big for a wolf, big and powerful. A voice penetrates his head. " Akar, have you found the children? Are they alright?" The wolf shakes his head. " Of course I found them human and for your information, yes they are alright." The voice laughs and then goes silent. "There will be a day I won’t tolerate your arrogance Akar. You have to learn some manners."

The wolf starts to shake and growls a bit as if he is laughing. " You won’t tolerate me anymore Shi’Kay? Don’t insult me like that, I walked on this planet long before you were born. So don’t insult me by giving me orders." Akar yawns again and closes the mental connection to the young wizard. Those humans think they are everything and especially those wizards. He stands up and shakes his fur. The sun is loosing its warmth so it must be getting late. Time to wake up the travelers.

Without making a sound he walks to the large tree. He sniffs the air for danger but still everything seems normal. The boy wakes up first, his blue eyes wide open in fear. Quickly he wakes up his sister. She takes on look at the wolf and closes her eyes again. Akar frowns and keeps his head wry. He expected them to scream and that sort of things. Not this, surely he can see the boy is a bit scared but the girl doesn’t even seem interested. Offended he sits down and waits. Stupid humans. Then the maid wakes up and Akar gets what he wanted. She starts to scream in fear, waking up the little girl again. Akar grins with satisfaction and licks his right paw. The maid is in total panic and tries to grab both the children. The girl covers her ears against the noise the maid makes and starts to laugh. " It’s just a dog Mae. Mother showed us that the people on the solid lands have dogs for pets." Akar growls to the girl and sniffs. " A dog? Is that how you see me human child? As a dog? I am far better that a dog."

Now the smart girl goes silent, her big green eyes look at the wolf in surprise. The maid faints when she hears an animal speak to them as if he was human. Orion smiles and touches the white fur to get the attention of the wolf. "You can speak like us. That means you are a magical creature right?" Akar grins again. These children are really smart, just like the wizards told him. "Yes human child, I can speak. I was sent here by the wizards of Mystic to guide you to the city. My name is Akar, which means legend." He turns his head to the girl on his left. " And I am a wolf and most certainly not a dog." She smiles to him and wraps her arms around his neck. " I am sorry Akar or legend. Can you forgive me?" She laughs when he licks her face. " You are a charming girl, you can get us in a lot of trouble." Akar stands up with the girl still hanging around his neck. He can’t deny he likes the children, they are open and honest. The boy is silent and doesn’t speak much but he seems to know everything that is said. The girl talks a lot and says what she thinks. Both children have the red hear and the bright eyes. Akar can feel the band between the twins. They have so much to learn and a great destiny waiting for them. But first they have to escape their own father to reach the city called Mystic.

"Wake up the maid, we have to leave." Akar walks down the path and waits for the humans to follow. The boy speaks to the maid and points in his direction, explaining what and who he is.

The maid nods but still Akar can read the fear and suspicion in her eyes.

He has to keep an eye on her, somehow he doesn’t trust her. But he knows Dominy and so he knows she wouldn’t give her kids to someone she didn’t trust. Akar feels the pain when he thinks about Dominy. He thought that Gavin had broken her spirit, but she had just enough left to save the twins. And now it’s his job to make sure that man will never hurt these two children again. Akar grins. Even if that means he has to eat the bastard. He stands up and together with the humans he travels to Mystic, the city of magic.
