Sweet Squishies

| Sweet Squishies Arrayed on a platter are several large gooey cubes. They are all predominately white and appear to be frosted with very finely ground sugar. Underneath the light coat of sugar each cube is a slightly different hue, however they seem to be of two main types, a very pale brown, and the more flashy pinks and oranges of the fruit flavored kind.

Sweet Squishies (marshmallows)
1. Soak 2 tablespoons of gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water until it has taken up all the water. 2. Boil 2 cups sugar in 3/4 cups water to the soft-ball stage (238' F.). 3. Add 1 tsp vanilla and a pinch of salt to the gelatin. Pour the syrup slowly over the gelatin, beating constantly with a whisk until cool and thick. 4. Butter a shallow pan slightly and dust with confectioner's sugar Turn the marshmallow mixture into the pan and smooth the top evenly. Dust with confectioner's sugar. 5. Let it stand overnight. In the morning cut it into small squares and roll in confectioner's sugar. |
