In the late spring, many forgotten years ago, the lord Tyr blessed the
                noble Al'Maren family with a second child.  She was called Aylianna.  At
                age 5, she was already learning the ways of the old code, which was
                recited every night by her father before going to bed.  Her brother,
                Forbius, 5 years her senior, taught her to use a sword and to ride a
                horse at the age of 7.  She loved to ride, and every day she would groom
                her horse Moonbeam.  Moonbeam was as black as the sky at midnight.  As
                Aylianna grew older, she was able to match swords with her brother and
                became an adept rider.

                When she was 14 years old, while she and her brother Forbius were
                tending to the horses in the stables, thieves attacked the keep, killing
                their parents and 3 of their servants.  As they approached their home,
                they heard horses galloping away, and the servants screaming inside.
                They ran inside, only to find their parents brutally murdered.

                A year passed...Forbius now 20 and Aylianna 15 decided to leave the keep
                and travel to a new realm that their mother used to talk about in her
                stories.  It sounded like such a wonderful place.  So they left their
                home in the care of the servants and set off for what they hoped would
                be a new life....
