Dusty Roads

Dusty Roads

This song is admittedly very difficult to learn. The timing is hard and it changes a lot. But it does sound quite nice. I have listed the song's chords as letters, such as Asus. If a part requires plucking a single note, I have put the string number (where 6 is the thickest and lowest) along with the fret number in brackets. Zero means that the string is open. For example, (1-3) is the third fret of the thinnest string. In one case, there is a chord C*. This chord is done as a normal C chord, with the baby finger holding down (2-3). The chords that are in brackets are optional. They add some variation to the song. You must be consistent, however, through the complete stanza. For example, if you leave the last (C) out of the first line, be sure not to play the last (A), (C) and (G) from the next three lines. The rests are denoted by minus signs. These are eighth rests. Each line of the table represents one 4/4 bar. The first part of the song is two bars long, and is repeated four times. This is the introduction in which no lyrics or harmonica should be played. Remember that the whole intro is picked, including the C and A chords. The song goes: Intro 4X, Chorus 4X, Middle 3X, Bridge, Chorus 4X, Middle 3X, Bridge, Chorus 3X, Ending. You can play the Chorus, Middle, Bridge cycle forever, but typically it would be done about six times with lyrics and harmonica alternating. The last chord of the ending should be let to ring (which I have denoted with \/\/\/\).

Dusty Roads is a traveling song. It is played at a steady speed of about 150. It almost requires a harmonica, and sounds great with lyrics mixed in.
