Devil's Dandy Dogs
The Devil's Dandy Dogs (DDD) are only added here as they appear in fairy lore. I personally think they are not fairy creatures just the same they are here like some other creatures. There are many names for the wild hunt in different parts of England but the most dangerous is the DDD of Cornwall. Some hunts only chase witches, others lost souls, or poor little elf woman. But lonely travels in the moors of Corwall are the pry of the DDD. There is a defense against them. One that is brave enough to stop running and kneel down and prey is safe. But that is easier said than done. Imagine trying to stop and collect your thoughts, while immersed in sheer terror. In our Game: The DDD only appear in one area of the game. They are mostly used as a color story to make things more interesting. But low to the poor player that should think that this is just merely an old wives tale. Surely a warning or sign should be given to him of the danger that is present. If late one night a player should run in to the DDD they MUST make a will power roll to be able to knell down and prey at a difficulty 8. If they make it, the beasts will wine and whimper till the master catches up and calls them off to less faithful prey. Human players and "the Enchanted " (people with a drop of fay blood in them) can do so without penalty. Changeling character gain a banality point and full fairy's gain 2 banality points even to attempt such an act. ..as the fay rarely prayed or ever worshiped God. If caught a kind GM may let the player off with merely a remembrance that they should not have been there. Something in the order of permanently white hair, a fear of lean shadows, or he may be bound to an oath to bring a victim for the next 4 seasons times 3. Otherwise to be true to form your soul would be forever lost. If the DDD are beat in a fair fight before the devil show up he will not intercede, but one may (or may not) find something going wrong in his life from that day forward. Less some blessing or offering is performed. If the DDD are killed they will reform and return next season (unless killed in Hades). |
