the Addressing of Cats

Depending on your point of view Jellicle Cats are either mystical royalty or snobs.  The are always aloof and generally lead solitary lives.  For example they themselves consider the average dog (compared to the average cat) as a simple soul with little on there mind but play.  Saying dogs have little pride, usually undignified, and easily taken in.    They like to bark but seldom bite, and they love to pretend they love to fight.  Dogs are too easy going, and they will answer to any call or shout.  All of this is not including the Pekes.

Upon discovering a Jellicle Cats there is a proper way to address one so that you start out on the right foot.  Some say that the first rule is don't speak until spoken to.  Though the most important thing to remember when talking to one is that a JC is NOT a dog.  JC resent familiarity.  One should bow and take off your hat.  Though if he is the cat next door or one that visits your yard or garden who you have met before you may greet him with OOPSA-CAT.

Even if you have heard folk call him by a name say "James Buz-James" you should not use it till he considers you as a trusted friend.  Some say a little token of esteem is needed like a dish of cream.  You might now and then supply some caviare, or Strassburg pie.   While some like potted grouse, or salmon paste,  there taste are very particular and  discerning.  There is one cat who makes a habit of eating only rabbit, and when he is finished licks his paws so as not to waist the onion sauce.

All JC think that they are entitled to expect all there and more evidences of respect.  If you follows these rules you should  finally be aloud to call him by his NAME.
