Bears reside in mostly northern climates and are and best just left alone.  Black bears will usually reciprocate, unless attracted to the party in some way, or protecting their young.  The larger Grizzly bear can be aggressive, while the carnivorous polar bear is extremely dangerous, with little fear of humans.

Even the black bear will come into camps looking for food and scraps, so it is best that food be kept away from there, and scraps cleaned up.
