Crocodile
| Crocodiles are tropical reptiles living in swamps and rivers. Adult
crocodiles range from 7 to 30 feet long. Alligators have been known to reach 20 feet,
though 6 to 8 feet is the average. When alligators and crocodiles float in the
water, they leave only their nostrils, eyes, and ears above the surface.
Crocodilians are predators and are nocturnal. While they are not social animals they often lie at the water's edge in large numbers, sunning themselves during the day. At night they retreat to the water, where they live solitary lives and establish individual territories. Crocodiles can run quite fast on land with there short legs and for short distances can out run and catch a human. These speed burst is only in a straight line so if chased by one the best chance for excape is in a zigzag pattern.
