Elephants (Loxodanta Africana or Elephus Maximus)

Pachyderms, “Packing” that is what these moving vans of the middle ages
were all about. Largely, they were used to transport heavy items,
usually, over small distances. They are traditionally (in lore) known
to have very poor eyesight and incredibly long memories. Both of these
traits can make for some interesting situations in a roleplaying.

Elephants are the largest land animal. Males weighs 11,000 lb, up to
13,200 lb, height 9 ft 10 in to 11 ft; female weighs 6600 to 7700 lb,
height 8 ft 4 in. Head: trunk, a muscular extension of the upper lip
containing the nostrils, tip equipped with 2 finger-like projections for
handling small objects. Huge ears, up to 6.5 x 5 ft. Teeth 6 sets of
cheek teeth (2 upper and 2 lower) of increasing size that move into
place as the animal outgrows/wears out previous set;continuously growing
tusks averaging 134 lb apiece in males, maximum wt 287 lb, length 7.7 ft
and 42 lb in females at 60 years. Feet: 4 toes on front feet, 3 on rear
feet. Skin naked except for scattered bristles and sensory hairs; color
gray or brown. At birth an elephant can weigh about 250 pounds and be
about 2 1/2 feet
Elephants eat about 300 to 400 pounds of food a day. These foods
include hay, fruits, vegetables and browse (tree leaves, bark and
branches). They also drink about 80 gallons of water a day. In the
wild however, they may go 3 days without water between water holes
Elephants are gregarious creatures travelling in herds and usually
following a leader or dominant male.

While used as domestic beasts Elephants MUST be controlled/dominated, as they will continually test your ability as the master.
