~+! Fruit Bat !+~
Fruit bat is a friendly little critter who is often found doing silly things and trying to cheer and
entertain the patrons of the theatre. He is gentle, kind, very emotional, and quite clumsy at times.
He cannot turn away from someone in need, and so he also often can be found trying to comfort and console one person or another.
Fruit bat never likes to cause a commotion - he is very timid, and quite small, so he fears confrontation and fights. But he does his best to be helpful to those who have legitimate needs.
He once helped Dodheimsgarde retrive a precious jewel from the top of a castle spire, and for that, he was rewarded with spiked wing-guards, which he always keeps around in case he has the need to defend himself.
The explanation of fruit bat's origin is quite complicated. When he was 17, Nothing had grown weary of feeling conflicted about his life, and his very nature, and so he went to a voodoo house in New Orleans. He talked to the madam there, and asked her to 'remove the part of him that didn't belong'. Nothing himself wasn't sure what he meant, he only knew that he didn't want to keep feeling the way he did, and that he couldn't tell this woman the specific details of his life.
The madam had merely nodded and agreed to perform a special ritual, and they had sat at a small circle table in a dark room. Nothing had watched her do her ritual, and started to feel quite skeptical about if this woman could do anything at all for him.
Just as he stood to leave, the was a flash of light, and a glowing ball of energy appeared on the table before him. Out of the light, slowly, a little bat formed. The madam explained to him that she manifested what didn't belong in the form of this small fruit bat. She told him that it was the part of him that was truely still innocent and untouched, the part of him that could feel real joy without being hindered by the rest of life's problems. She took out the last bit of Nothing that was a carefree child, which had been hidden beneath the rest of his emotions.
So because of Nothing's own vagueness, Fruit Bat was made.
A part of Nothing, but different from him in a number of ways. Linked but separate.
For a long time, neither Nothing or Fruit Bat told anyone they were linked to one another. Nothing was too afraid that Fruit Bat would be punished for things Nothing may do wrong. But gradually, some people came to realize this, since at times, they switched places - changed forms from one to the other, when it was a matter of urgency.
Fruity has managed to befriend many people in the theatre, and a number of people have helped him greatly. He was even made and given a special protection amulet from Harlequin, in case he ever needs help when none he knows are around.
Being a fruit bat, many of the theatres patrons also give him food - peaches, mangos, and kiwi are his favorites.
