Balthazarr was in a stasis, a spell was cast upon the great dragon while in a healing sleep. The spell was cast by Dahlia and her husband Samuel Adams. He has been hidden in his lair up until recently. He was awoken by an explosive spell cast by the green dragon Darganith, which destroyed the old Dragon's Tower. Balthazarr is free of the stasis spell..and spends much time with Dahlia's other son Aidan, teaching him the magics he knows.
