A Few Parting Words
My fellow friends and citizens of Legend, in the face
of the arduous task of regaining the Eden for which we can love, shape,
and die for, let us not falter before our pride and our inexperience. Let
us remember that we are by no means perfect; it is the struggle for perfection
that brings about our grandest potentialities. The perfection we seek cannot
and shall not be a sterile stability but one of coordination and creative
momentum. The perfection we seek must manifest in our actions and not be
stirred among the existing ambiguities. People are born flawed, to make
mistakes until death takes its unyielding grasp. This we all must know
and accept as fate. But in the protracted passage of time between birth
and death, we build our monuments, one worthy of remembrance.
It is vital that we remember our defeats and divisions
as we remember our triumphs and unities so that we may transcend them,
not to repeat the disasters nor gloat over victories.
We shall not forget the past nor shall we dwell
on their former glories. We must free ourselves and provide new vibrant
stories for the youthful sages recording the sagas of the day. As this
aged eagle soar above, time races past beneath its wings demanding the
infusion of new blood to invigorate the exhausted fowl. Yet they boil beneath
the skin, separated from one another as a layer of oil over water. The
sickly bird falls through fleecy and stormy clouds alike, spiraling down
and down, round and round. So we must answer the eternal question of how
can the many be as one in order to reassemble the pieces, to lift our eyes
toward the boundless blue sky and arise.
