Dragons play a huge part in many works of literature and
beliefs. In some countries dragons are signs of good luck, in
others, a sign of destruction.

According to Greek Mythology, Apollo, the god
of music, medicine, poetry and others, killed a dragon by the
name of Python who was terrorizing Pytho. Python was watching
over the sanctuary of Pytho near the Castalian Spring. Apollo
killed the beast and saved the surrounding areas from the
destruction caused by Python. Also, he took charge of the oracle
that had been protected by the dragon. However, because the beast
was the son of Gaia, Apollo acted as a cowherd for Admetus, the
king of Pherae in Thessaly for eight or nine years.
The patron saint of England, Saint George
saved a princess from a dragon with a magical sword.
In Fushigi Yuugi, the god Seiyruu is represented
as a Dragon. He is the symbol of the Seiyruu Seishi and plays an
important part in their beliefs. After Yui calls on him the first
time, she begins to be absorbed by him. In Tokyo, Miaka saves Yui
by having Suzaku and Seiyruu fight during her wishes.
