Escape and Entrance
Crystalla
15 year old Crystalla Skysong sat on her bed, listening to music from
the stereo that Dr. Krausen's people had supplied her to keep her happy.
She shook her head at that, causing her short auburn hair to flop into
her eyes. Suddenly, her semi-pointed ears perked up and her silver eyes
shot to the door. She could hear one of Dr. Krausen's assistants talking
to someone outside her door. By an unspoken command, Jada took over the
body and Crystalla retreated to the back of their mind. Had she looked
in the mirror at the instant the change took place, she would have seen a
rim of a jade green appear around her silver eyes. While Crystalla was
the brains of the group, Jada was the best spy, and she was an unerringly
correct guesser when her curiousity came into play (which was often).
Jada slinked cat-like over to the door and pressed her ear to the
keyhole. They all heard what was spoken.
". . . Dr. Krausen said to bring her into the lab after her Exercise.
He's gonna add another one," the voice became worried, "His victories on
little Crys must have addled his wits. They have already begun taking
their toll on her! Too many more personalities.....the poor girl's gonna
go insane!" The voices stopped and the footsteps echoed down the hallway.
Jada grinned at the nickname as she removed her ear from the door and
crept soundlessly back to their bed, relinquishing the body to Crystalla.
Sapphirine whimpered from her special spot in the back section of
Crystalla's mind, I don't wanna go insane! Crys reassured her as best
as she could by saying, in her mental voice, None of us are going to go
insane! I have a plan for our escape. Then another voice piped up, a
childish, higher one, Oh goodie! Escape sounds like fun! She was
ignored by the others except Rubi who complained until they shut her up.
Then Crystalla started again when it was quiet.
Jada. . .
Huh?
What sort of things are we going to need? You're the expert. For the
next hour or two, until it was almost time for Exercise, they planned and
gathered everything they could carry that they didn't want left behind.
Crystalla retreated to her corner of her mind to think as the others
gathered their most precious belongings. She had already gathered hers.
Jada needed her pouches, Rubi, her knives and sheathes, Berylia, her
stuffed animals. Once they were all done, they let Crystalla take
possesion of the body and they waited for someone to bring them out for
Excercise. It wasn't long before a knock came on the door, "Time to go
out!" called a voice, which she recognized as an old friend, Trevelyan.
"Just a moment," she replied, "I have to grab some things."
" 'Kay, just don't take too long." As he was talking, she swung her
ever-present, multi-colored backpack onto her back.
"I'm ready!" She heard a click of the lock, and the door swung open,
showing her that it was indeed her friend, Trevelyan.
"Let's go Crys," he said with a smile. They walked outside to the yard,
nobody else was there, fortunately. She waited until Trev had shut the
door, then let Rubi take the body. She launched herself at him,
surprising him. They were at it for a while, hitting and kicking, and
just before she closed in and knocked him out, she whispered, "I'm sorry
old friend. I hope you understand that I had to do this." She grabbed
his two guns, she might need them on the streets, and snagged the keys to
open the gate. Jada took the body at that point, opened the gate and
threw the keys back at her unconcious friend. Then she dashed out onto
the street, the gate door clanging shut behind her. She risked one last
look at the awful compound that had been her only home, then skittered
around a corner knocking over some containers. Once Jada felt she was a
safe distance away, she slowed to a walk. She saw something glinting on
a young man. In seconds it was in her hands. She heard Crystalla and
the others groan, but she ignored it. "Really," she thought as she
inspected the lovely, expensive gold watch, "People must be more careful
with their things! If I hadn't found this, a thief would have. I better
let him know that he dropped it." (Watches didn't really interest her.
She already had some.) Just then, Jada saw him shouting to some
policemen, and pointing to her. They advanced on her, for some unknown
reason, at least, she didn't know why they were coming. So, Jada took
off at a full sprint down the pavement, after tucking the now forgotten
watch into one of her many pouches. She saw a large building come into
view ahead of her, and turned towards it, figuring that it would have
some good hiding. Jada refused to let the others take the body until
they were safe. She glanced back, and couldn't see anyone coming. Just
then, she ran into someone, hard and was knocked onto her bottom. Unable
to be contained, Rubi overthrew Jada's control, her silver, ruby rimmed
eyes flaring in her almost constant anger. She struggled up and growled,
"Watch where you're going, Freak!" She said the freak part upon noticing
the rainbow, spiky hair.

Shalla
Shalla waited for twenty minutes or so for the guards to leave. Creeping
out was easy, but she had to let Benny take the body. He managed to accuire many
things on the way out. At least he kept the girl they were *supposed* to be rescuing.
Finally, Benny found tha way out. Shalla grabbed the body back, and dashed
out. Only to be bowled over by a girl with auburn hair.
The girl glared at her. "Watch where you're going, freak!"
Dropping the body, Gitara took over. Her hair seemed to bristle more, and
her eyes glowed through the orange contacts. "Freak? Who you calling freak? Do you
want to fight me? Come on! You chicken?" She yanked out the bloodstained
switchblade and gun.
Benny took over. "You know, I am a freak. I've got holes all over my head,
my hair is spiky and oddly colored, and I have friends who live only in my
mind. So, you would be correct."
The girl's jaw had dropped. "You know, I was also an experiment, and the
leader of a huge street gang!" Benny said, then Gitara yanked control back.
"Shut up Benny Stormcrow. I was about to get into a good old fight!"
Gitara turned back to the girl.
The girl seemed...different...something about the eyes...or the way she
stood. Shalla yanked the body back. "Do...do you have.." She tried to ask but
couldn't finish.."multiple personalities?" She finished in a rush.
