Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah

Keeper of the Chronicles

Jhenis was the daughter of a well-to-do merchant. Due to the nature of her fathers work, by the age of 16 she had been all over the main continent. She started leaving with him on trips at the age of 8, due to the fact that she did not get along at all with her 2 other sisters. Her father found it easier to take Jhenis with him, than to come home to a house of a crying mother and bloodied-nosed daughters. Because Jhenis spent more time with her father and his guards than her mother and sisters, she quickly forgot the ways of a lady. She learned to throw daggers with her fathers guards, and her father himself showed her how to use a quarterstaff.

Jhenis home was in Tarabon, just north of Tanchico. When she was away from home, however, she received several comments on how she did not look like one from Tarabon, despite the fact that she always wore the clothing of a Tarabon lady, with her hair done in the countless braids and a transparent veil always covering her face. Her dusky light brown hair and light green eyes seemed to always confuse people. Time and time again she explained how her mother was from extreme north, along the border where coloring was closer to that of a Domani.

It was on one trip with her father that it was discovered that she could channel. While she didn't have the spark inborn in her, she had a good degree of potential to learn. The Aes Sedai that found her took her from Cairhien, where her fathers business was at the time, to Tar Valon quickly. Jhenis never had a chance to tell her family goodbye.

Jhenis spent 11 years in the Novices white, and 8 as Accepted. After 15 years as an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, she was chosen by Moorea Sedai, the Amyrlin Seat, to serve in the Hall of Sitters. After 24 years, Moorea Sedai was disposed of by the Black Ajah. Alanna Sedai was elected by the Hall to serve as the next Amyrlin, and she chose Jhenis, her close friend since they had both been novices, to serve as her Keeper. Jhenis is still Keeper of the Chronicles this day.
