'Avalanche', jump off a train. Barret will ask you to follow him. Battle your way to the outer gate of the power plant, where Barret and the rest of the Avalanche team, Vicks, Wedge, and Jessie are waiting. Talk to Vicks. He'll ask for your name - give it to him. Fight your way to the center of Makoro. There, you will find the first of the two locked gates. Talk to Jessie, he'll open the gates for you. After the first gate is open, go right and you'll find a treasure chest.. Go back and ride the elevator to the top floor. Navigate you way through the ladder and various beams until you reach the core section. Cloud will arm a bomb. This triggers an alarm and now you'll face your first level boss. When the boss is defeated, you'll have to escape the Makoro Complex before the bomb goes off. You'll only have 10 minutes to do it, so hurry up! Now don't go too fast, there are stragglers, they are your partners, don't leave them behind. Makoro Town (Area 8) After the complex explodes, the Avalanche members will scatter off. From there, you'll want to head up to the surface where you'll encounter Aeris for the first time. Aeris will approach you and ask what happened. Bonus Aeris Sequence Now you will be given some choices. To get the little bonus sequence, do the following: 1: "Tell Aeris to escape" 2: "Show interest in Aeris' flowers" 3: "Buy the flowers for 1 gil" The bonus sequence will occur when you get to the bar in the slums of Area 5. After you receive the flowers from Aeris, head south-west towards the lightpost and you'll pick up an item. Continue south and you will encounter some guards. You can either fight them, or run away from them - they're easy, just fight them. You'll eventually be surrounded by guards. Cloud will make his escape by jumping on to the train. The Train and Avalanche Headquarters Now you're on the train. Be sure to talk to everyone, especially Jessie - she'll give you information on Midgar's layout. When you get to the town, talk to Barret. He will then tell everyone to head for the slums - follow them. When you get to the town, head into the bar. This is the Avalanche headquarters. This is where you meet Barret's daughter and Tifa. After Marin mistakes you for her father, Barret and Tifa will approach you. Tifa will ask you if you and Barret got into any fights. Bonus Tifa Sequence When Tifa asks you if you and Barret got along or not, tell Tifa that you "restrained yourself from fighting with Barret." And, if you bought those flowers from Aeris earlier, Tifa will be surprised that you actually found flowers in Midgar. After conversing with Tifa, she will then urge you to go down to the headquarters. This will lead to a verbal dispute with Cloud and Barret. After this sequence, go back to the bar and talk with Barret. Barret will ask you about the use of Materia, just teach him how to use the Materia. Be sure to gather supplies and Materia before you leave to Makaro, and don't forget to save your game. Makoro Industrial Complex (Area 5) Once you're on the train, be prepared for an early Shinra ID scan. You'll have to run down through the train - there's a time limit, hurry! Once you get to the end, everyone will jump off automatically. You will now be located in the train tunnel. There are two directions you can go at this point: You can head south and fight some guards, and gain nothing really interesting, or, you can go North, where all the action is. Once you get to the energy field, there will be a small hole to the left - take the ladder down. After climbing the ladder, head west to find your other Avalanche partners. Climb up one of the ladders and you'll meet up with one of the members. Navigate your way through various ladders and platforms. When you get to the core of the reactor, Cloud will plant the bomb. This will lead to a flashback sequence. After the sequence, head back to the elevator. The elevator will lead you to a new floor. When you get to the control panels, Tifa will instruct you to press the button the same time she and Barret do. It takes a couple of tries, but you can do it. After you open the door, be sure to save your game - that's right - when you get to the bridge shaped like a "T" you'll fight a boss. The Slums of Area 5 After beating the mini-boss, the ground will remove from you and you'll fall to the bottom floors of Area 5 - the Slums. This is where you'll get aquatinted with Aeris. When you talk to Aeris, she'll ask you if you if you remember meeting her. Just say yes to her and provide some friendly chit-chat. After the brief talk with Aeris, Shinra solders will barge in and ruin everything. Your goal here is to escape with Aeris from the church. Aeris will fall from a ledge when attempting a jump, make your way to the top of the church. You're going to have to use the barrels at the top of the church - or you can fight them. But for those who want to use the barrels, here ya go: 1. Use the barrel in the back-right corner for the second guard. 2. Use the barrel in the front-right corner for the last guard. After escaping from the Shinra solders, make your way to Aeris' house. It's located in the in the far northeastern part of the slum town. When you get to Aeris' house, rest - you've had a long day. When you awake, you'll attempt to sneak out without Aeris, we wouldn't want her to get now would we? Before heading to the edge of town, you might want to check the garden for some Materia. Just when you thought you were home free, Aeris will be there waiting for you at the entrance to Area 6. Follow Aeris and travel north, towards the playground. And for those who are having trouble with that crazy maze, just look at the map to your left. After the sequence between Aeris, she'll leave and your mission will be to head northeast to the other part of town. When you get there, be sure to talk with everyone and gather all the necessary supplies and weapons - there are some good ones. Now that you're all geared up, you'll want to head to the Honey Bee Inn. It's located in the southeast corner of town. You'll soon discover that Tifa is being held captive in the mansion that's located in the northern part of the slums. Unfortunately, only girls can enter the mansion. Hmm...what to do? Getting Inside Corneo's Mansion To get in the mansion, Cloud will have to disguise himself as a girl. Let's break out the shopping list shall we? First, visit the clothing shop and talk with clerk about getting his father to make you a dress. You can find the clerks father at the restaurant - he's the one drinking by himself at the counter. Aeris will explain the whole situation to him. Now, you do want a nice dress. The clerk's father will ask you what type of dress you would like...don't be afraid, tell him. Ask for a silky dress that's shiny, you'll get the Satin Dress. You do want to look convincing don't you? Now return to the clothing store, he'll already be done with it. Now you'll need a wig. Go to the gym located in the upper part of town. Go inside and talk to the woman. You will get the wig if you beat her brother in a competition. You'll have to do some squats. After getting the wig, go back to the clothing store and change. Now you're ready to go to the mansion. Once you're inside, Go upstairs and head towards the door furthest left. Head down to the dungeon and there you will find Tifa. Don't forget the item located in the northwest corner of the room. Now, head back upstairs and go through the middle door. Talk to Don Corneo and you'll then be taken to another room. Search around the bed and you'll find another item. But be prepared to fight the other characters in the room. Now go and talk to the guy near the Television. There, your true identity has been revealed, so beat'em up. Aeris will now be in the dungeon, rescue her and then return to the middle room again. Go to the Corneo's master bedroom and a sequence will begin about Shinra's next plot in destroying team Avalanche. After the sequence, Corneo will activate his trap door that will lead you to the sewers. Another sequence will follow. The Underground Sewers/Train Yard When you wake up, a mini-boss will attack you - great. When you beat the monster, be sure to go up the stairs and get the item, then climb the ladder. Navigate and battle your way through the sewers. You'll then find the Train Yard. On the way to the Train Yard, be sure to look out for items and Materia. It's there, but you just might have to move some trains. When you reach the Train Yard, Barret and the Avalanche team will already be in a battle with the Shinra. You'll also see Wedge take a dive for the worst. That should get you mad, now get to the top of that tower. The Tower Battle Fight your way to the top of the tower and you'll eventually meet up with Barret. This will result in a battle with one of Shinra's hench-men. After you defeat him, well, he runs and takes Aeris. What a punk. This will interlude to a scene showing the destruction of the slums. You'll eventually wind up back at the playground. Since the explosion, a few things have changed. One being the fact that there is a piece of Materia if you head north. Travel back down to Area 6 and head to Corneo's Mansion. You'll find an item behind his bed, but don't look under his mattress. Before you leave, head down to the dungeon and you can free one of the prisoners. And now, if you go to the man that was sleeping, and he didn't want to help you, he will now be selling Materia. When you finish looking around the town for more goodies, be sure to stop by the weapons shop. There you will find batteries. Buy some. After purchasing the batteries, go to the northeastern corner of the town and you'll see a bunch of kids climbing on a pipe. Follow their example. You'll eventually run into an outlet, use the batteries to charge them. Be prepared for a couple of obstacles. These require a little bit timing and luck to get through them. After finishing the long climb up the pipe, you should now be at the Shinra Corps' doorstep. Shinra Corp. Building There are two ways you can do this. You can either sneak in through the staircase, or you can blast right in through the front. Just go through the front door, you need the experience points. Either choice will lead you to the 59th Floor. When you finally reach the 59th Floor, head south to get to the other elevators. These will take you to the 60th Floor. Get ready, it gets tough from here. 60th Floor: The object here is to avoid the guards from spotting you. If you get spotted, you'll have to fight them, and start all over again. The best way to pass them is to move your guy the same time they move. After you pass the guards, take the stairs to the 61st Floor. 61st Floor: This one is easy. One of the characters will ask you what you are doing here. If you don't answer him, he'll give you the key to go to the 62nd floor. 62nd Floor: Talk to Domino. He's located in the western part of the room. He'll ask you for a password. You'll get some Materia if you guess if correctly on the first try...OK, quit twisting my arm - the password is Mako. Before you leave, check out some of the books, you just might learn something new. 63rd Floor: This floor is optional. But you will find some useful stuff. If you get all the coupons by only opening three doors, well, you get some goodies including either a Star Pendant, Four Slots, or an "All Materia". After 'successfully' getting the Materia, head back to the staircase and go to the 65th Floor. 65th floor: You'll notice that this room has a room of a model of Midgar with sections missing from it. This is what you have to do: Search all the chests until you find one that's unlocked. When you do find one that's unlocked, you'll receive a piece of the model. Return each piece, one by one, and eventually, the Midgar model will be complete and then you'll receive the key to the 66th Floor. 66th Floor: Time for a bathroom break. Head towards the northwestern corner to find the toilet. Climb on top of the toilet and crawl into the vent. This will let you crawl around the ventilation system and you'll be able to listen in on the Shinra conference. When you exit the vent, you'll notice that the scientist (Hojo) will leave and take the stairs to the next floor - follow him. 67th Floor: Continue to follow Hojo at the elevator. The elevator will take you to the laboratory. You should see Aeris enclosed in a glass structure. You'll also encounter Red XIII, a future party member. Now that the introductions are over, prepare to fight a boss. After you defeat the boss, head towards the elevators located on the 66th Floor. Don't forget the treasure chests on the way. After a valiant attempt to escape, you'll eventually be caught and thrown into jail. Converse with all your party members and then go to sleep. After a well deserved nap, you'll notice that your cell door is unlocked and the guards have been killed. Head back to the 67th Floor by taking the elevator. From the elevator, head east to the hallway and take the stairs up to the 69th Floor. 69th Floor - the Main Office: There is a save point on this level - you should use it. Go up either one of the purple staircases and enter the Presidents room. You'll notice that not only are the guards dead, but the President is dead as well. Go through the door and talk to Rufus - the 'new' President. Cloud has his eyes set on Rufus. You must navigate your way back with Aeris and company to the elevators. Prepare yourself though, you'll encounter a boss. The fun is just beginning. Cloud will have to face Rufus and his pet panther. If you take out his panther first, Rufus will become pretty easy to defeat. In fact, so easy, that he'll run away. Head back inside the building and go down the stairs where Tifa is. Now get ready for the first arcade sequence in the game. The object is to knock all the baddies off their bikes. Reminds you of that scene with the clowns in Akira. When you finally beat everyone up, you'll then encounter yet another boss. Use lightning spells on this bad-boy. Finally, Outside of Midgar After defeating the boss, you'll notice that you are on the outskirts of Midgar. Organize your party and head south to the first town. Once outside, head northeast until you get to the first town. Once inside, follow your party to the inn. There you will witness a series of flashbacks about Sephiroth and Cloud. One of the flashbacks will take you into the mansion. When you get inside the mansion, go up the stairs and take a right. Head down, then right, and then up to the curved part of the wall. If you press on the wall, it will trigger a secret passage way. Follow the stairway down to the library. You'll meet Sephiroth and another sequence will occur. After the sequence, Cloud will wake up on a bed inside the mansion. Head back down to the library and find out just what Sephiroth is up to. Follow him out of the mansion and see what he's done to the village. After all the flashbacks have finished, you will then be back at the inn. Go downstairs and talk to Barret, he'll give the PHS - the cell phone. Now explore the rest of the town and purchase all your supplies. Be sure to keep your eyes open, there are some items laying around. When you've finished stocking and searching, grab your saddlebags, it's off to the Chocobo Farm. Chocobo Farm Right when you enter the Chocobo Farm, talk to the first Chocobo. The Chocobos will then do a dance and then you'll receive the Chocobo Summoning Materia. When you get the Materia, go inside the farm. The man inside will be selling food, but he'll also be selling the Chocobo Lure Materia. Buy the Chocobo Lure and you'll now be able to catch Chocobos. You'll be able to catch them wherever the Chocobo tracks are. When you run into one, kill off the enemies and don't hit the Chocobo. When you're finished in the Chocobo Farm, head southwest where you'll find the Mithril Cave. When crossing the swamp, watch out for that crazy snake. You can fight it if you want to, but be careful, it may be too strong for you to fight. Inside the Mithril Cave Be sure to look throughout the cave, you'll find some cool stuff. You'll also notice a brown vine, climb down it to find the Long Range Materia. When you finished looking around, from the entrance, walk west. You'll then encounter some pretty mean dudes from Shinra - the Turks. Don't worry, no fights just yet. After the brief conversation, head north to find some stuff and then head back and climb up the vine that leads outside. Now head southwest to the Rock Town. The Rock Town - Phoenix's Nest When you enter the town, talk to the man and head towards the rope. Climb the rope and you'll enter a town that's built right inside the rock face. Climb the ladder to get to the main room. From there, you can look around and pick up some pretty useful items at the shop. There is another arcade sequence here, but we suggest that you wait until you have more money. Make the necessary preparations and head northwest to Cannon Town. Cannon Town Be sure to talk to everyone when you enter the town. After doing that, go down the stairs that lead to the beach. You should see a young girl named Priscilla playing with a dolphin. A boss will appear out of the sky, so watch out. After beating the boss, you'll have to give Priscilla CPR. The object is to get as much air into the girl as you can, so start huffing and puffin. After you save the girl, head to the house at the front of town and talk to the lady there. Rest at her house and a sequence will start. After the sequence, go to the house that's located at the top of the stairs. Priscilla will wake up and she will give you the Shiva Materia. After getting the Materia, head towards the beach again. Priscilla will help you get to the beams above you with the assistance of her dolphin. Try and position yourself right below the beam and then blow the whistle. Once you're on the beam, go left and climb the ladder. When you get to the control panel located on your left, press it and the cargo elevator will take you to the lower level. Head south and enter the barracks area. Go to the left-corner of the room to the solders locker room and go to the open locker and change your clothes. Poof! You're now a Shinra Guard! Follow the guards out of the room and take the exit to the left. Make sure you save your game before you leave - it's gonna be awhile. After the CG show finishes, you will now have to join the parade and mimic the solder's movement. Now you'll be on TV, so make sure you get high ratings. The higher the ratings, the better the reward. Be sure to check every building, you'll find some hidden items and be sure to stop by the Materia store. When you get back to the locker room, you'll have to learn the rifle routines - this one is tough. After humiliating yourself with the rifle drill, go and talk to RED XIII, then board the boat that's heading to Costa del Sol. Aboard the Boat to Costa del Sol When you're aboard the ship, you'll notice that some of your party members are disguised as crew members. When looking around the ship, make sure you pick up all the items. You'll also notice that a save point is being blocked off by a guard. To make him move, talk to him and then go back down to the lower deck. Go back up and he should be gone. Next, talk with Barret. He's located at the front of the ship, peeping in on the President and company. The alarm will sound. Go back down to the lower deck and enter the door at the bottom of the stairs. Don't forget to climb the ladder and get the chest. Sephiroth will appear. After the brief conversation, Sephiroth will leave and you'll face another boss. After beating the boss, be sure to grab the Ifrit Materia. Costa del Sol / Mako Furnace Before heading upstairs to the town, be sure and talk with everyone at the port. Before leaving the town, be sure to replenish supplies and look around for hidden items, don't worry they're around. After exploring Costa del Sol, you want to exit the town (go under the bridge) and head northwest and follow the trail through the mountains. You'll then stumble on to the Makoro Furnace. Just head south to the railroad tracks and follow them until reach the save point. Now, when you travel on the tracks, there will be three places where you can fall: 1. The upper track - try and fall to the left - both sides have an item, so you win either way. 2. The lower track - fall all the way to the left. 3. The second upper track - Be sure to fall on the opposite side as the first upper track, then you'll have both items. When you're done falling off the tracks, take the lower track and meet up with the rest of your party. After the formal hello, go back up to the upper track and lower the drawbridge by going into the little booth. As you're wondering up the track, you can climb up the mountain side and get an extra item by fighting a bird. Return to the lower train track and meet up with your party. On you're way up to the bottom track, you can go down on the river line and you'll find a secret room with some treasure in it. Continue up the track and you'll cross a rope bridge. Town of North Corel When you arrive at North Corel, you'll be greeted with open arms - well, not in Barret's case. You'll soon realize that Barret isn't the most popular person in North Corel. Be sure to check around and see if you need to purchase any supplies. Head towards the big blue cable car and you are off to the Gold Saucer. The Gold Saucer Now you can save your game, but it will cost you a couple of GPs. Gils don't work here, only GP. That means you have to play some games in order to win some cash. When you are done playing games and betting n Chocobos, go to the Wonder Square where you will meet Cait Sith. Next, go to the Battle Square and you'll discover a dead Shinra guard. To make a long story short, you will get captured and get sent to a desert prison - dang. When you get to the desert prison, you'll want to head through the fence to the next area and go to the house in the southeast corner. Barret will be there. Another flashback sequence will occur. You'll soon find out why the people of North Corel dislike Barret. You'll also discover how Barret got his arm-gun. Here is where Barret's story begins to unfold. When you get to the junkyard, you'll meet an old buddy from Barret's past - Dyne. An emotional sequence will happen between the two, and unfortunately, Barret will have to fight Dyne. After the battle, you'll end up back in a trailer house. Talk to the guy in the green suit and he'll ask you if you want to go up - this reminds us of Battle Angel, when that kid wanted to get to Tiphares. Anyway, say yes you want to go up and you'll suddenly become a Chocobo jockey. Remember to pick up the Ramuh Materia after the race that's located at the northeastern end of the table. When you're ready to race with the Chocobos, just talk to her. After you win the race, which can take a few times, you'll be rewarded with a vehicle. Now you're ready to cruise in style. Gongaga Area Now that you have the little buggy, you can cruise over rivers and stuff. Now you can head to the dead Mako site and you'll run into the Turks. But in return, you'll receive the Titan Materia. There is also a near by village. This will also lead to a brief sequence with Tifa that rises Cloud's concern of the truth behind Tifa. Now we're heading to Cosmo Canyon. Cosmo Canyon When you enter the town, RED XIII will instantly be recognized as Nanaki - he must be a regular. After searching the town, and buying all the items you need, you'll meet Nanaki's teacher, Bugenhagen. Bugenhagen will answer a lot of questions you may have been asking yourself along the course of your journey - he'll basically put everything in perspective. When you leave the room, head towards the campfire in the middle of town. There, a meeting will be held regarding a secret cave. Cosmo Canyon: The Cave As you venture through the cave, remember, this is the only time you'll ever be down here. In other words, get all the junk down here. When you get to the five different paths, each one will lead you to different places. Some lead to treasure, others lead to dead ends. Now watch out for spider webs. When you walk through them, you'll have to fight a spider. When you get to the end of the cave, there will be a boss waiting. After you beat the boss, you'll receive another piece of Materia. Next, follow Bugenhagen back to the surface. Now you'll want to take your party to Nibelheim, located past the mountain range - you'll also pass over a river. Nibelheim and the Mansion To summarize, this is Cloud and Tifa's hometown - supposedly. When you enter it, Cloud will talk to the party. You'll also notice some guys in black cloaks wondering around the village, but don't be afraid of them. In fact, talk with them and at the same time, search the village for some hidden items. After you look around, head towards the mansion. Search the mansion with a fine tooth comb, you'll find some pretty good items in here. Also, there's a safe. To open it, enter the following coordinates: Turn right to "36" Turn left to "10" Turn right to "59" Turn right to "97" You'll have 20 seconds to open it. And like every bonus event, there's a boss. After you beat the boss, take the key that's in the safe. this will open the basement door. Use the hidden passage located in the room all the way to the right. Climb down the spiral staircase. You'll enter a tunnel with a locked door - this is where you get Vincent. When you talk to Vincent, he'll ask you some questions about Sephiroth. Tell him about your Sephiroth adventure, and he'll eventually go back to sleep. Knock on his coffin again. Ask him about his current situation. He'll tell you what happened and then he'll ask you to leave. Don't worry, you'll see Vincent soon enough. Follow the tunnel to the library. Sephiroth will be there. He'll tell you to follow him to the Nibelheim Mountain Range. Be sure to grab the Materia he throws at you. When you exit the mansion, there will be another exit located at the edge of town. This will take you to the mountain range. Nibelheim Mountain Range Navigate and battle your way through the mountain range. When you get to the bridge, you'll enter a cavern with a boss. You'll notice a few pipes that will lead you down. However, some of the pipes lead to items - Materia perhaps? Experiment with each pipe - you're bound to find something. After searching through the pipes, be prepared to fight the boss that's waiting at the entrance to Rocket Town. Be sure to pick up the Counter Attack Materia after you beat him. Rocket Town This is the town where you'll find another party member, Cid. If you look in the background, you'll notice that there is a rocket back there - that's Cid's baby. Go ahead and walk around and pick up anything you need. If you go to the house located in the far northeast corner, there in the backyard, you'll notice a plane called the "Tiny Bronco" - Remember this plane. You'll then encounter a woman on your way out, she'll tell you about the Shinra President coming to Rocket Town. Head towards the rocket and talk to Cid. After you talk with him, head back to his house. After you speak with the woman, head outside. You'll notice a man (Palmer) wants to borrow Cid's plane - oopsy, better run out back. You will have to fight Palmer for the plane, so get ready for another fight. After this series of events, Cid will join your party. But now, you have a plane that doesn't fly. You will however be able to venture through the shallow water. Go back to the eastern part of the middle continent to the Blacksmith's House. It's near the Golden Saucer area - it's a tiny house. The Blacksmith's House Once you arrive at the Blacksmith's House, talk to the blacksmith. He'll tell you about the keystone, the special key that unlocks the secrets of the Ancient Ruins. Unfortunately, he sold it to the manager of the Golden Saucer. Pilot your plane until you get to a place where you can dump off your party. Head towards North Corel and go to the Golden Saucer. Revisit the Golden Saucer Go straight to the Battle Square. In the Battle Square, there will be a room called "Dio's Show Room". Go inside the show room and you'll see the keystone - go ahead and look at it. Dio will greet you and he'll arrange some indecent proposal - just kidding. Actually, Dio is willing to let you "borrow" the keystone if you enter the battle arena. Do this, and then you'll receive the keystone. So now you're ready to head back...wait a minute, the tram is broke! Cait Sith will advise you to go to the hotel, sounds good. This results in a date with Aeris, You don't have to go, but there are some great cut-scenes. Just go on a date with her. After you return, you'll soon discover that Cait Sith has stolen the keystone, what a bastard. From here, you'll find out Cait Sith's true motives. Cait Sith makes a run for it. Now you can run all over the Golden Saucer, or, you can just go to the Chocobo Race Area. You'll eventually end up in the Haunted House. Hint: Check the Iron Maiden. Head downstairs and meet up with everyone. After the discussion with everyone about the Ancient Ruins, the car will now be operating, time to take care of business. The Ancient Ruins When you enter the ruins, you will come across Tseng from the Turks. He will have the keystone, take it from him. When wondering through the various caves and passages, be sure to search for everything. When you see the old man wondering around, be sure to follow him. But the rest of the maze is up to you. Just remember that there are vines that you can climb to get to other places. One vine in particular grows behind a wall, you'll have to find it though. You'll also run across some boulders. Maneuver Cloud so that the boulders role over him. It's hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it. There is a pattern. You'll pass a pool, be sure to get the piece of Materia there. A series of sequences will start with Aeris regarding Sepheroth. When you get to the end of the boulder run, the old man will be waiting at the end - save your game. Proceed to the clock room. Each path will lead you to a different place. Here is where they lead you: I: Treasure Chest II: Dead End III: Treasure Chest IV: "Princess Guard" Item V: Path - to a treasure chest VI: GOAL - A puzzle with the old man VII: Trumpet Shell VIII: Mega Elixir IX: Dead End X: Start Point XI: Blocked Path XII: Boss Extra: If you let the hands knock you off, you'll fight another boss. When you catch the old man, the door will unlock. Be sure to save your game before you proceed, you're gonna face another boss. And you'll see Sephiroth! After beating the dragon, take the black Materia and get out of there. Another boss awaits you, so get ready. After this massive event finally comes to a halt, your party will now find itself back in the Gongaga Area. Head towards the northern continent and there you will find the Bone Village. Bone Village When you arrive at the Bone Village, you'll soon learn that the Luna Harp is needed to pass through the Sleeping forest. To get the Luna Harp, talk to the manager of the miners and he'll organize a search party. Although this is a somewhat of a timely process, you'll eventually find the harp. When you find the harp, go through the forest and there will be a piece of floating Materia there for you to grab. After that, make you way to the Shell Village. Shell Village When you enter the Shell Village, you can take one of three paths. The left one takes you to a save point. The right one will lead you to a piece of Materia located on the top of the house. The middle path, well, that will take you to another shell home. Go inside the big shell house and take the staircase down. You will see Aeris. Well... now it's time for me to just shut up and let you witness one of the most dramatic moments in the game...be prepared though, you'll have to fight a boss, and he's tough. Chapters for Disc #2: Shell Village Glacier Village Great Glacier Staying Warm in the Gaea Cliffs Energy Field Back at Cannon Town Searching for Cloud The Train, The Train, The Train! North Corel: Saved Back at the Condor's Nest Cloud is Back Return to Cannon Town The Submarine Chase Back at Utai Rocket Town Cosmo Canyon Burial of the Ancients The Battle at Midgar Shell Village After witnessing the death of Aeris, head back outside the shell house. You should see Sephiroth and the three paths of the village. When following him, you'll eventually come to a cavern filled with a series of ladders. Navigate your way through the cavern and you'll finally be back outside - but it's snowing. Glacier Village When you arrive at Glacier Village, be sure to go to the house located all the way to the right. There, you'll be able to get a map of the Great Glacier area. It's located on the wall of the house. Next, talk to the man located at the top of the town, some Shinra soldiers will hassle you. When Elena attempts to hit you, tap the left button to duck out of the way - unless you want to get slapped. After the sequence with the Shinra guys, go to the house with the kid who had the snowboard - he'll give it to you. After getting the snowboard, go back and talk to the man located at the top of town. You should now be able to go snowboarding. Be sure to stock up on supplies, you have a long journey ahead of you. Great Glacier After crashing into the snow, if you got the map, press the Square button to pull up the map and find out where you are by using landmarks. Your basic goal here is to make it to the Red Check Mark, but be sure to look around there a ton of cool things here in the Great Glacier - the Alexander Materia is one of them. When you get to the area with the huge crater in it, head south, then east until you get to the log bridge. Cross the bridge and go south until you reach the "lone tree". From there, head south, and then go west until you reach the lake. Get the item and head to the northwest corner - the body of water with the floating blocks. Navigate your way through the blocks and you'll then receive another item. After that, head up to the mountain pass area located to the east - you'll find some blue Materia. It's hard to see, but you should be able to find it in the snow. After you get the blue Materia, head to the hot springs (located in the northeast corner). When you get to the hot springs, touch the water and then head to the snow lady's cave. The snow lady's cave can only be accessed in that crazy snow place where you can leave landmark-flags. Talk to her and she will attack you. Beat her and then you will receive the Alexander Materia. Staying Warm in the Gaea Cliffs When climbing the cliffs, you'll notice that you have a meter located in the corner of the screen. By tapping the Square button, you'll be able to keep your temperature above freezing. If you don't, you'll start all the way back at the cabin (below 27). You can only charge the meter on the flagged edges - so tap that Square button when you can. Once you enter the cave, go under the two-arches and go up the stairs. Head west. When you climb the stairs, you'll notice that the path is blocked by a wall of crystals. Head northwest and follow the path that winds behind the cave wall. You'll encounter a rock - push it. The path should now be clear. Head to where the crystal wall used to be and follow the path to the outside. Once outside, you then have to repeat the same system that was used in the first cliff climbing. Just make sure you keep yourself warm and you should fine. When you get to the second cave entrance, you'll notice some huge holes in that block your way to the next room - these will have to be filled some how. Go through the nearby door and follow the curving path until you reach the area with the icicles hanging from the cave ceiling. You will have to fight all the icicles in order to fill all the wholes at the bottom - so start cracking! When you get to the third cave, be sure to drink from the pool and save your game, you're going to have to fight a boss. After defeating the boss, climb up the right side of the cliff wall and then you'll see what Sephiroth is really up to. Energy Field After the cut-scene, head down the crater wall. Tifa will then join your party, if she isn't in there already, and talk with you. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled when you get to the bottom crater - the Neo Bahamut Materia is there. When you get the Red Materia, jump to the save point. Next, jump to the background area. This will lead to a brief sequence with some Shinra goons again. After the sequence, head left and you will encounter some shrouded weirdoes and an energy barrier. If you talk to the shrouded guys, they will give you some items and now you'll have to cross the barrier. Crossing the barrier takes some timing, but it's pretty easy. Just wait until the "wind" calms down and then run through. If you don't make it, well, you'll have to fight a monster. When you've crossed the first barrier, head north and you'll face yet another barrier. Wait until the wind barrier slows and then run through it. Continue to head north and you'll see Sephiroth. After you beat up his minions, Sephiroth will call for a stronger opponent - watch out! After you defeat the boss, head north and you should find a save point, along with an item. You'll be challenged with another energy field - watch out for that crazy lightning bolt. When you successfully get through the final barrier, you'll then witness another sequence that twists the plot even more. Back at Cannon Town Cloud is missing and Tifa and Barret are scheduled to be executed...What to do? When you gain control of Barret, follow Tifa and the guards. Be sure to note that when Tifa is locked in the gas chamber, the guard will drop the key on his way out. When you gain control of Barret again, try and unlock the door. You won't be able to open the door, so head back outside and you'll be greeted with an explosive cut-scene. During all this, you'll still have to get everyone out. Right after you leave the room with Barret, take a right and talk to the reporter - Yuffie. Head to the left and ride the elevator up to the airship. Now lets take care of Tifa. Through a series of button combinations, you can free her. Just press X, X, Triangle, X + Triangle, Triangle + Square, Square. Once Tifa is free, head to the left and turn the gas off. Once the gas is turned off, try and open the door - it won't open. Lucky for Tifa, the Sea Monster blew a hole in the gas chamber ceiling - make your way up. Just keep heading north until you get to the tip of the barrel of Cannon Town - trust us. You'll face some Shinra punks once again. Now, once the sequence starts, rapidly hit the O button. Tifa will start fighting and then Barret/Highwind rescues her from being beat up by Shinra guards. Brilliant! When you gain control of Tifa again, go through the door to your left and follow the signs to the Cockpit. After the brief conversation, talk with Cid. Next, talk with Red XIII and then Cid again. Finally, talk with the pilot - then go to the Operations Room (you can change your party, save your game, etc.). Go back to the cockpit and talk with Cid, he'll show you how to pilot the airship. Searching for Cloud Now that you have your airship, fly to the city located on the southeast continent. Just look for a small village in the middle of a forest, you'll be able to land on a grass-plain near it. When you enter the town, Tifa will automatically speak with the cat. She will then find out that Cloud is here and she'll run into the hospital. Confined to a wheelchair, Cloud is suffering from Mako poisoning. From here, the story begins to unfold. Cloud and Tifa won't be able to be in your party, so you'll have to decide who is cut out for the next mission. Head to the airship. When you get back in the town with your new party, be sure to talk with everyone and explore the shops - useful stuff here. After exploring, you're off to North Corel. The Train, The Train, The Train! Pilot the airship to the eastern part of the main southern continent. It's the cave that's southwest of Costa del Sol. When you enter the cave, climb to the top of the hill and you'll see the Makoro furnace. There will be two guards in front of the entrance, fight them and the train will pop out - get ready. The train that's shipping the "Huge Materia" is making its way towards North Corel, and you've go to stop it. Your party will automatically get on another train in an attempt to stop it. Cid will have to pilot the train by alternating the main levers on the train (UP and the Triangle button). If you keep up the steady rhythm, the trains will get closer and closer to each other, and you'll be able to jump onto the Shinra train. A warning: Each box car has an enemy you'll have to battle. These battles are timed, so be sure to use elemental spells, and try and stay away from summoning spells. When you finally get to the front of the train, you'll then have to beat two more guards. After beating them, you will now have to slow the train down. Just press UP and the Triangle button and you'll eventually stop the train. (UP + Triangle, UP + Triangle, UP + Triangle, etc.) The train should stop right in front of North Corel. If you don't stop it, well, I suggest that you restart the mission. North Corel: Saved Be sure to go around the town and search, you may find some cool stuff. Remember that boy that was searching the well for something shining?...Talk to him - he's got Materia. Next, go up the wooden ladder and check out the house left of the inn. Talk to the girl with the hat, she'll give you an item. Now, head back east, to the Condor's Nest. Back at the Condor's Nest This is where the Rock Town was, for those who couldn't remember. Go talk to the man in the guard tower and prepare for war - make sure you have a lot of cash. To give you a quick synopsis, this is a real-time mini game. Much like Warcraft or Command & Conquer. The idea is to beat all of the Shinra enemies before they get to the Phoenix. If you have a lot of cash, and you should, this game is really easy and shouldn't pose too many problems. Just make sure they don't get to the wooden shack. After the mini-game, a cool little cut-scene shows the birth of the Phoenix and you should then revive the Phoenix Materia. Cloud is Back When you get back to the hospital where Cloud was at, you'll have a brief chat and then you'll have to fight one of the weapons. Be sure to charge your guys up, he's pretty strong. In fact, he's so strong that you won't actually beat him, he'll just fly away when you've lowered him to a certain HP level. Save the victory dance for later, the town is about to fall apart! Unfortunately, Tifa couldn't roll Cloud out in time. Cloud gets a double dose of Materia poison. Now this is where it gets weird. When you gain control of Tifa, talk to all the Clouds. After you finish, talk to the top one again - this will lead to a cut-scene. You'll be taken back to Nibelheim. As soon as Cloud comes from the shadows, talk to him. Keep talking to him and Sephiroth will then appear. When you get back to the area with the three Clouds, talk to the one on the left. After that sequence, talk with the one to the right. Finally, talk to the young one. After those events finish, talk with the black Cloud. Both Clouds will then join together. Follow Cloud to the top of the screen and go into the town. Cloud will appear again, but he'll be in a Shinra suit. The truth begins to unfold. Keep talking with Cloud and you'll eventually return to the surface. When Cloud finally gets his senses back, you'll eventually end up back on the Highwind. Be sure to visit the town before you leave, you may need to stock up on supplies. You can also receive a bonus orb from the little Chocobo located at the top left corner of the town - just make sure you have Mimento food. Return to Cannon Town When you enter the town, go to the back of town and talk to the guard, he'll let you on the elevator for 10 gils. Right when you get off the elevator, take a left and head through the nearest door. There should be Save Point there if you need it. Continue up the street until you get to the overpass - make the first left that you see. You'll see a group of soldiers rehearsing. When the soldiers complete their routine, follow them into the door all the at the bottom left of the screen. This door will lead to another elevator. Proceed north until you reach the underwater pathway. When you enter the building, activate the pink control panel. the door will open. Exit the room and you'll be in the submarine docking area. After the Save Point, you'll run into some guards - piece a cake. Just keep beating up the guards until you reach the part where you'll start seeing the Materia being loaded. One of the Turks will walk over and you'll face a mechanical boss. After you defeat the boss, head up into the sub - don't forget all the treasure chests along the way. Beat the remaining soldiers and get ready to pilot a submarine. Woohoo! Submarine Controls: D-Pad: Navigates the Submarine Triangle Button: Accelerate X Button: Reverse Square: Launches Torpedoes R1 or R2: Switches Camera Views The Submarine Chase Now you're behind the wheel of fully armed submarine. Your mission is to search and destroy Shinra's red submarine. But Shinra won't go down that easy. Beside the big red sub, you'll soon notice that there are a few more subs in the ocean - and they'll try to kill you! After sinking the Shinra sub, you'll soon discover that the last piece of Huge Materia is headed towards Rocket Town. But before you rush to Rocket Town, take a cruise around the ocean for a bit, mainly to get the piece of Materia from the sunken Shinra sub. Bonus Stuff: Along the ocean floor, you'll find a lot of useful items, we'll tell you about the necessary locations, but you might want to look around sometime when you get the chance. If you see this guy...RUN! He will kill you! You will die! No life for you! That's one of the weapons right there. So watch out for him. The sunken plane has a ton of useful items in it. I suggest you take a look inside. But we better warn you, the Turks are in there as well. Expect a fight. You'll also want to find the Key of the Ancients. I won't give away too much, but the key is located near the middle of the continent. Back at Utai Pilot the sub back to Cannon Town and hop back on your airship. Head west back to Utai, Yuffie's hometown. When you get into the town, go to the mountains with the statues carved into them. Enter the mountain cave and when you walk to the flames. You will now be able to extinguish them and pick up some pretty useful items. Now let's head to Rocket Town. Rocket Town When you arrive at Rocket Town, you'll immediately head towards the rocket. There, you will face Rude and some Shinra guards. After defeating them, head towards the rocket's control room. Basically, the Shinra are attempting to hit the meteor with the rocket and the piece of huge Materia. To retrieve the huge Materia, you'll need a passcode - O, Square, X, X. After the awesome sequence with the meteor, go back to Cosmo Canyon. Cosmo Canyon When you arrive at Cosmo Canyon, go talk with Bugenhagen - he'll explain everything. Now you should have the Key of the Ancients, because that's where you and Bugenhagen are going, the burial ground of the Ancients in Shell Village. Of course, Bugenhagen will give you the option of taking a look at the huge Materia. Here are the requirements for gaining the bonus Materia: Blue - Bahamut Zero Must have Bahamut Materia and Neo Bahamut Materia Yellow - Master Command Must have all 13 command Materia at Master level Red - Master Summoning Must have all 16 summoning Materia at Master level Green - Master Magic Must have all 21 magic Materia at Master level Burial of the Ancients When you arrive at Shell Village, head towards the left cavern. A sequence with Bugenhagen will take place. After the sequence, leave Shell Village and head towards Midgar. What?! Another weapon has risen? Great. The Battle at Midgar Race to Midgar and wait along the shore of Midgar until the weapon reaches you. That's right, go on and fight him. After fighting with the weapon, Midgar will launch the Sister Ray...be glad you're not the weapon. When the sequence is finished, head into the Midgar with the airship. When you get inside, follow Cait Sith until you confront the Turks. When you meet them, you have a choice to either fight them or leave them. When you finally reach the outskirts of the gun area (the tracks), you'll face Heidegger and Scarlet - but they aren't alone. Get ready for another fight. After defeating the huge mech, you'll find out that you have seven days until the Meteor hits. Crap. Go up and face Hojo. He's tough, and he has three different forms, so watch out. Disc 2 is complete!!!— Sephiroth awaits. Disc #3: The Final Battle Before you make your way down, be sure that you have plenty of supplies - it's a long a journey. As you get deeper and deeper into the crater, your party will eventually splint up into two groups. Be sure to look around closely, there are a lot of useful items like Materia. Materia Check List: HP Absorb Materia Tetra Materia Shield Materia Counter Materia W-Magic Materia Be sure to pick up the Save Crystal right at the beginning of the caves - you can put a save point a right in front of the last area. When you get to the bottom of the crater, you'll want to save your game and adjust your Materia. Your about to face the first of three powerful bosses. After you beat Genova, you'll face Sephiroth - the first part of him anyway. For a quick win, use the Knights of the Round. When you defeat the first part of Sephiroth, you'll then face Sepheroth in his true form. Watch out, he's tough. Just use the Knights of the Round and then use the Mime Materia to mime the Ultimate End spell - that'll hurt him really good. After you defeat Sephiroth, prepare for one of the best game endings ever witnessed by the human eye.
