Built entirely on the trade coming from the mysterious sands of the Dry
Desert, Baklava is one of the youngest kingdoms on the Moonsea. It is almost
since its inception been ruled by a dynasty of the Daclinian family. In
fact, the country and the family are all but the same in the minds of most
people. Baklava is a place of caravans, camels, mysterious arabs, and roads
towards the sands for those that need to disappear...

Who Rules: King Gregory, head of the House Daclinian.
Who Really Rules: Surprisingly enough, throughout most of the country's
history, the Daclinian family has indeed been the ruling force in Baklava.
However, King Gregory is aging and due to his lack of a royal heir, many
of the merchant factions, especially the Southern Caravan Alliance, have
begun to vie for control over this essential trade route.

Salar Firenze -- For centuries the only noble family in all of Baklava
with any sort of power to topple to Daclinian Dynasty has been the Firenze
family. When Arcus Daclinian ascended to the throne three hundred
years ago by deposing Omar Delfund, Simmion Firenze was at his right hand.
Throughout ensuing generations, the same has been true. Salar Firenze
is King Gregory's right hand man and has been the royal best friend since
the time of birth. He is older than the king by barely a month and
the two have been basically inseparable since birth. Gregory has
made Salar his minister of trade, the highest post in a country whose lifeblood
is their monopoly on trade with the rest of the continent to the south.
Salar has the king's ear like no one else within the kingdom and his favor
is courted almost as assiduously as the king's.
